TWO AWESOME DMV FALL BALL LAX EVENTS- ONE @ LANDON

Sep 18, 2012
2 min read

Two days of lacrosse with rosters of talent only rivaled by the Final Four will be the Washington sports headline for October 6 and 7. The difference is that the NCAA lacrosse tournament will be in Philadelphia, Pa in 2013 and Baltimore, MD in 2014, both in massive NFL stadiums, both charge high prices for tickets and concessions and both requiring a commute to see all of the games.

In contrast, on Saturday, October 6 at Episcopal High School’s Hummel Bowl and then on Sunday, October 7 at Landon’s Bordley Stadium, many of the country’s top college players will play in these far more fan friendly confines. Here are the schedules (and Bear alumni playing):

SATURDAY @ EHS—PLAY4 PARKINSONSSATURDAY @ EHS—PLAY4 PARKINSONS

  • Air Force vs. Towson

  • Georgetown (A. Joyce) vs. Princeton (Grossman, Reilly, Murphy and J.&M. Strabo)

  • PSU vs UNC (Will Leighton-Armah) (Fields TBD)

  • 2:15 – 2:30pm       Everyone on Stadium Field (Foundation & Thank you’s)

  • 3:00 – 5:00pm       Team USA vs Team USA

These matches, in a slightly relaxed Fall atmosphere, will showcase incredible individual and team talent. The USA Team is the best of the best.

Both events charge nominal admission fees and will have concessions at the sites (the Capital Lacrosse site —http://www.capitallacrosseinvitational.org/tickets/). The proceeds go to a Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (EHS) and the Mario St. George Boiardi Foundation(http://www.capitallacrosseinvitational.org/about/). George was a Landon alumnus and died tragically; the Foundation is doing great work to commemorate George’s inspirational life.

For high school, middle school and beginner lacrosse players, the opportunity to watch these games close up is an incomparable opportunity to learn and watch GREAT lacrosse. On top of that the funds raised will go to two incredibly deserving charities.
