A special event, honoring Bear parents at a college in New Jersey, will likely inhibit or prevent the production of the Sunday Edition on time; so a bit prematurely, here is the current store of news about some Bears.

1. When did you start playing football?
I started playing football in 6th grade for Coach Cervenak in Vienna.
What is your time in the 40 yd. dash and what’s your best bench weight?
I’ve never ran an official 40 yd. dash, but a good way to calculate it would be to subtract a few milliseconds off of whatever Johari Johnson said his time was. My best bench is around 180.
What is your favorite college football team and college football player?
My favorite college team switches from year to year, this year I like Oregon and Florida State. My favorite player this year is probably Amari Cooper of Alabama.
What is your favorite moment during any Landon sports event in which you played?
Beating Georgetown Prep last year in the homecoming game.
What is your favorite course/faculty member at Landon?
I’ve enjoyed every class and teacher I have ever had at Landon. I really enjoyed Humanities and American Studies. Some of the few names that come to mind are Mr. Reed, Mr. Ogden, Mr. Sorkin, Mr. Gordon, Mr. Dresher, and Mrs. Farnstrom.
What is your favorite non-sports related activity–community service, music, painting, sculpture, photography, independent paper, debate, drama, poem, extracurricular activity, etc.?
I like a lot of outdoor activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing. I also like participating in the community service projects that Landon offers.
What is your nickname (if any) and how did you get it?
A lot of the guys call me “Lou”.
Describe yourself in 3 words? How would your parents describe you in 3 words?
I would describe myself as friendly, loyal, and clever. My parents would probably describe me as observant, caring, and smart.
What’s on your iPod?
I keep a lot of different stuff on my IPod; I like all types of music. Jarrett Witzal is always keeping me up to date on the newest hip-hop so a lot of credit goes to him for what ends up on my IPod.
10.Tell us one thing (interesting) that your teammates do not know about you.
I used to live in Arizona.

Rugby Scrum Trax
Thanks to a new stringer, Mr. Ted Sears, we have news of Jack Sears, a four year player at Landon, now plays fly-half, sort of like the quarterback in terms of coordinating teammates. The young Sears is known as an exceptional great kicker, perhaps based on his soccer training/background. The Colby team has an AWESOME coach. Coach Leo Lafaiali’i played in the world cup, Samoan national team. According to Landon’s Coach Sears who traveled to Waterville, ME., where he saw a spirited and taught rugby game on Saturday.Colby dropped the game 36-31 to the University Maine Farmington. Jack, picture below, converted four kicks among other things.

Thanks to help from Cyrus House, there’s news about Darion Adkins, Joe McDonald and Chris Hudnut
From Charlottesville, Coach White devotes a full page to Darion, Atkins Eager to Seize Opportunity; here are a few quotes about the Cavalier power forward:
Akil Mitchell averaged 25.7 minutes per game for the UVa men’s basketball team as a senior in 2013-14.Darion Atkins wants to take a healthy percentage of those minutes this season. “All of them,” Atkins said, smiling, in the players’ lounge at John Paul Jones Arena.
Atkins, a graduate of Landon School in Bethesda, Md., is the only senior among the scholarship players on the Cavaliers’ roster.
“Personally, I feel like I don’t really have anything to show for my career individually,” Atkins said. “Team-wise, obviously, we’ve progressed as a team. But individually I’m kind of disappointed. I just feel like I haven’t really done much, I haven’t really contributed a lot over the years. People here say that I have done stuff, I’ve shown glimpses and whatever, but that’s not enough to me.”

From Foggy Bottom, GWU’s hoops Coach Longeran said “He wasn’t All-Conference, but our fans know @joemac22 is the straw that stirs our drink” #RaiseHigh”. The school issued this article focusing on the Class of 2016, The Best Thing About GW Men’s Basketball’s Juniors is That They’ve Become Leaders; here are a few quotes about Joe McDonald:
· McDonald now feels he possesses the “self-confidence to lead,” after fully recovering from last season’s nagging hip injury and offseason surgery. “As a freshman put into the starting point guard position, I didn’t really feel comfortable to lead. Last year was kind of lead by example, which is how I always am in general, but I feel like my vocal leadership is something that has improved greatly and there’s still room for improvement.”
· “We have a lot of basketball still left to play and expectations seem to be pretty high, but I don’t think it’s anything us four can’t handle together.”
The folks at Colby College do not get ready for BB as soon as UVa and GWU begin their coverage, but they will feature a returning D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region Team player, Chris Hudnut. He led the Mules in scoring (17.5), rebounding (8.4), and minutes played (31.0). He also was second for Colby in assists (63 total), blocked shots (19), and ranked third in steals (19). Hudnut shot 47 percent from the field and 78 percent from the foul line.
