Preview of the team from Rockville Pike; Award–Antoine Hudson; Bear Tracks; opponents’ results

Since there is nothing remotely relating to Georgetown near the Jesuit institution, it is problematic to call the school, GP; so the team is referred to herein as the team from Rockville Pike (RP).

The team competes in the Baltimore MIAA, which allows recruiting and within that highly competitive context, RP is 4-1 and 7-2 overall. They  lost early to Gonzaga and Gilman in successive weeks, but have roared back to beat 5 straight including theretofore undefeated Calvert Hall and St. Albans as well as a tough McDonogh team.

The LITTLE(?) Hoyas have a massive offensive line that averages 6-4, 275 pounds, and not surprisingly can move the ball on the ground with Bobby Gribbin, #21, 5-foot-8, 185-pound RB (over 1,000yds for the season) and Dominic Bryan, #25, 6’2″, 225#,who has offers from Boston College and Maryland. The O weapons continue with the QB, last week DC SpoprtsFan.com independent player of the week, Bobby Rutland, #5, 6’1″, 185#, who has passed for 484 yds and run for 476 yds for RP.

The Prep D has had three exceptional games holding three consecutive high scoring offenses (Mc Donogh 35, Calvert Hall 30 and StA 24) to 14,12 and 13 points, respectively.

Trailing 21-7 to Bullis in the second quarter, Landon appeared to be on the ropes to a Bullis team ready to deliver the knockout blow. But thanks to an 89-yard kickoff return by Antoine Hudson, Landon went on to score the final 29 points of the game to defeat Bullis 36-21. CONGRATULATIONS, Antoine

From ESPN’s ACC Football Blog

“SPECIALIST — Will Snyderwine, Duke, K, r-Jr., 5-11, 190, Potomac, Md. (Landon School)

Snyderwine scored 10 points on two field goals and four PATs as Duke defeated Navy, 34-31. He was 2-of-2 on field goals (30 and 40 yards) and 4-of-4 on PATs. His 40-yard field goal at the 8:34 mark of the 4th period proved to be the winning margin in the three-point victory, and he has now made 11 consecutive field goals. On the season he has made all 22 of his PATs and is 46-of-46 for his career. Three of his seven kickoffs resulted in touchbacks, and he recorded one tackle on kickoff coverage.“

Patrick Hunt had 5 solo tackles, including one for a 1 yard loss, for Davidson in its 37-13 loss to another BB power, the Dayton Flyers.

Delonte Wellington had 32 yards in 13 carries as the Trinity Bantams beat Middlebury 25-10. Thanks to the Korengold family, we have a picture of the freshman (Trinity does not publish photographs of 1^st year students.)

John Blizzard had a tackle assist in W&L’s 49-14 win against Catholic University in NE DC.

Jon Umanzor played in Dickinson’s loss to the Muhlenberg Mules, 13-26.
