Information about the Bears’ next opponent—

PJPJReview by PJ Fitzgerald

After last week’s dominating win against the Eagles of Annapolis Area Christian, the Bears will face one of the football powers of Baltimore, the Mount St. Joseph Gaels. The Gaels have faced some of the Bears opponents that they’ve already played and will also play later in the season.  They have already played McNamara, to which they lost 31-23 and St. Albans, which they beat 47-38. They are also the 11th ranked team in Baltimore. So it should be a good test for the Bears.

On offense for the Gaels they run the pistol formation. Which is where the quarterback lines up 4 yards behind the center and normally has a running back lined up 3 yards behind the quarterback. The Gaels strength on offense is in their running game. Their running back Nevone McCrimmon is very quick and has good speed in the open field. McCrimmon has been averaging about 7 yards per carry so far this season. Quarterback Bryan Jangro is another key to the offense for the Gaels, he threw for 262 yards in the Mount St. Joes v. McNamara game. I think if the Bears defense can come out and shut down another offense like they have the past two games it could help them come out on top.

On defense the Gaels run a 4-4 defense, which bunches 8 players close to the lone of scrimmage . The Gaels also don’t really have any players on defense that stand out, but they play well as a unit. They recovered 2 fumbles, picked off a pass or two, and held the Bulldogs running back Arthur Jones to only 38 yards in last weeks win against St. Albans. But I think the Bears have the advantage on offense running the wing t formation.

 Go Bears!!!
