New Senior and republished profiles, the Jacoby Tennis Cup plus a teaser
TEASER, list of the members of the Class of 2011 who will be playing at the next level will be posted soon:
DECEMBER 1991, the Corcoran Art Gallery, Holiday Party, the Landon Bears Bell players,a motley crew of mostly offensive lineman was asked to entertain the guests of the Gallery. A father was listening to them and was impressed with the extreme concentration of these rhythmically challenged students trying to ring their bell at the precise moment called for by the score (musical). The father went to the bar, to relieve his nerves. The gentleman serving him a drink explained to the stranger that “these boys are not sissies, they are athletes”. Most of the bell players earned Varsity letters on the college level.
In honor of that astute observation about the multi-faceted nature of Bears, BSN will post a list of the members of the Class of 2011 who will continue their athletic careers at the next level. That compendium will FEATURE their other accomplishments at Landon.
The article is still being researched; so input as to the members of the Class of 2011 who will be on the fields of competition and would be appreciated. More importantly, any information about their other achievements would be appreciated.
Contest– guess how many of the 78 members (hopefully) of the Class of 2100 are expected to play varsity sports for their college. The results will be published, soon.

The Jacoby Tennis Cup
Landon’s tennis traditions are long and deep in terms of their significance to the school. Much of that has to do with the quintessential teacher/mentor/coach, Mac Jacoby. To foster that history and in a live demonstration of Bear Tracks, Pat Guarnieri and others call alums back to campus and pair them with the young Bears. This year’s competition (see below photo with the mentor in the middle) was won by Mark Dichiara (’99) and Nicky Talwar with Robert “Moose” Cobb (’78) and Hollis McLoughlin. :
