Landon v. Pennsbury

The Bears were back at it again tonight! Looks like this team is on a roll! Pennsbury was downed 9-2!

Sam Kroll was back in net and turned away 16 shots. The Landon defense has been stingy! Offensively the Bears shelled the Pbury keeper with 35 shots on net.

After some tense back and forth rushes by both teams, Sam Anas took control of the puck and skated the his way through two defenders to beat the Pbury keeping in the upper corner for the first goal. A great breakout pass from Johnny Cobb was the helper. Only 1-0 at the end of the first. Was Landon human?

Matt Potolicchio opened the second period scoring 37 second into the frame to put Landon up 2-0. Graham Shue has made his return to the team from injury known with his helper as well as one from Connor Meike. A second even strength goal came from from Shue on a beautiful tip in that was unleashed from Nick Malone who shot after getting the pass from Meike. Landon had a chance to go on the Power play and made quick work by scoring another goal. This time blueliner Chris Javens tallied the mark with an assist from David Lacker. Anas added another tally that was closely followed by another PP goal. This time the scorer was Potolicchio on passes from Matt Opsahl and Teddy Wellington. Pensbury was able to notch two goals in the this frame. Both were great unassisted plays with phenomenal shots beating Kroll. End of second, 6-2.

The final frame was solid. Both teams were tired and the weary legs showed. Nonetheless, Landon continued to outwork Pennsbury and were able to add three tallies. The first was a short hander by Potolicchio from Wellington. The third was a rocket of a one timer from Issac Porter that was passed to him by Graham Shue and Johnny Cobb. The final goal of the game was clinic in passing between Wellington and Potolicchio with Wellington getting the red light to shine.

Each goalie that Landon has faced this tourney has needed Aloe to relieve the sunburn on the backs of their necks. With this win, Landon takes first seed in the division and will face Archbishop Ryan in the morning.
