Landon v. Conestoga – Game #1 of West Chester Tournament

For a road team the fear is always having the first few shifts of a team be sluggish. Bus legs and all. However, today, the Bear’s did something astonishing that amazed this spectator! 22 seconds into the opening frame, David Lackner buried the puck from Nick Malone. 14 seconds after that, Sam Anas put one away in a tic tac toe passing exchange initiated by Lackner to Opsahl to Anas. 21 one seconds later Joe Snively found the back of the net on a pass from Max Greenwald. That is three goals in 57 seconds for you adding this up! After Conestoga called timeout and gathered their heads, the period played out with the ice still tilted in Landon’s favor. 13 shots to 4.

The second period ended with the Bears adding four tallys to the scoreboard: Opsahl from Snively and Teddy Wellington, Matt Potolicchio from Opsahl, Anas helped again by Lackner and Opsahl, and then Anas again to the top shelf from Lackner and Malone. Shots in the second were 21-4. Landon continued to press hard and work hard throughout the entire frame.

Third period was another stellar showing by the Bears with the shots favoring Landon 12-1. Lackner tallied from Anas and Opsahl, and the final goal was Joel Rosenzweig from the brother combination of Christian and Connor Meike. Sam Kroll did a wonderful job in net and solid defense was played by Chris Javens and Johnny Cobb who was moved back to increase the number of blueliners on the roster.

Should be interesting to see how the Bears come out tomorrow afternoon against Boyertown at 3:45PM.
