Landon- Prep game thoughts

It was the last game on Prindle Field for 14 seniors who have devoted so much time, energy and focus for Landon soccer. Their families were in attendance; so there was plenty of support from the sidelines. All of the team worked very hard for all 80 minutes.

Looking at a soccer ball, it’s perfectly round. Unlike a football which is a spherical ellipsoid, the primary equipment for the soccer should take very predictable bounces, but the actual game seems to involve a lot of random bounces. That is not to diminish the athletic abilities of the players; they have to respond quickly to those unexpected actions. Indeed it is the speed and the foot equivalence of dexterity which distinguishes the skilled players of this sport.

That said, the Bears gave up two goals and could have easily become discouraged. They did not and fought back with skill and effort to bring the score to 2-2.

The next event of the game gets to the odd bounces. The Prep players moved the ball quickly up the field and a shot from nowhere hit back of the Bears’ net. The seemingly random movement of something round changed the scoreboard; it should not alter the recollection of all in attendance of all the effort of the Bears.
