LANDON LAX 10 PAUL VI 8
There is a reason why Coach Bordley challenges the squad against some of the best teams in the nation. By playing the best, by exposing the boys to fast paced, highly skilled play, the Bears become battle-tested, ready for the local schedule. Bears 10 Panthers 8
That is in no way meant to diminish the talents or athleticism of the visitors. They are undefeated, ranked #23 nationally by , #9 in the Middle Atlantic and have 9 seniors going on to play college lacrosse. Their signature win was over RP and they are averaging 13.5 goals a game.
The two teams played nervous, but sound defense. The first score was by a Panther on his own empty net; he was being ridden by a Bear and the visitor’s pass put the Bears ahead at 2:25 remaining in the 1stB 1 P0. The visitors responded when Logan Aunon put one in at 1:40.
END OF 1ST Q B1 P1
The Panthers took a lead at 8:16 on an unassisted shot at 8:16. (incorrect number recorded by scorer). Landon retaliated when Robby Dunigan inverted, drew a slide and hit Sean O’Brien who buried it @5:59. Once again PVI responded on a goal by Ryan O’Connor. The Bears evened up the score @2:49 with an unassisted goal by Sean.

END OF 3RD Q B 6 P5
The beginning of the last quarter was one of those quintessential moments- who would step forward to create the momentum that helps carry the team? Early in the period, senior captain Robby exhibited that sort of tested leadership when he scored @ 10:43. The visitors narrowed the margin to one goal again when Ryan Lamb scored.
Throughout the game possession was critical as ever and Jason Murphy was a stud at the X winning 14 of 20.The goalie Hunter Sells (10 saves) was solid and his friends, the boys with the long poles—Mike Rhoads, Trey Lundelius, Andrew Mitchel, Taylor Trumbower, Connor Lynch and Will Buckingham—were solid in front of them. He also appreciated his two way middies plus (as described by Quint Kessenich as the most athletic position) the two SSDMs Brandon Johnson and Leo Falcone.
The Bears reasserted their control when Falk scored on a running shot @ 7:53 and soon thereafter Sam Lynch nailed a corner @ 5:14 B9 P6. Given another EMO opportunity, the Panthers converted –Peter Muller to Murphy at 4:08.
Momentum change? No, the 10th Bear goal scored @ 3:00 by indefatigable Capt. Dunigan creating a 3 goal advantage. The Panthers were hobbled by a series of penalties, but got a fast break goal at 0:28 by Murphy.
