MIAA opponents are always physical and well prepared. The Gaels of MSJ had the benefit of seeing video of the Bears’ game against fellow MIAA school, Severn and clearly had practiced against the home team’s clears, rides, O plays and D sets. The players in home white’s had to adjust their tactics, were able to take a lead and hold on for a 9-8 victory. In fact, perhaps the key to frustrating the black clad visitors was a last second caused turnover on a MSJ attempt to clear.

The Gaels took an early lead when Landon turned the ball over in its own D zone and allowing a goal at 11:04. #22 AEDEN CASSIDY replied with a tally @7:05 credit to #9 SEAN MURRAY with an assist. #5 MAKANA NEVOROSKY  exhibited his shooting prowess with a pretty goal @1:49.

The Bear in the nets, #1 STEPHEN RISO saved 2 of the MSJ SOGs. His teammates put 5 SOGs on the MSJ goalie. At X#47 TALAN SMITH was 1 and 1 with 1 GB and #7 HAYDEN GOOZH recorded  the same numbers. The Gaels for 5 for 5 on clears while the Bears failed on their 1^st clear but were able to cross midfield on the  next 4 opportunities

Again, the visitors showed success first with goals at 6:07 and after a successful FO at 6:02. Undeterred, the Bears waited until the clock showed less than 0:15 with 2 quick scores– @0:12.5 #10 CADEN SOUTHWORTH connected with MAKANA whose hard shot was behind the opposing Goalie before he saw it. A clear FACEOFF win by TALEN resulted in a pass from him to #9 SEAN MURRAY for a goal @ 0:03.4

STEPHEN, with help from a smothering D, stopped 1 of 2 SOGs. The Bears’ offense had 8 SOGs. TALEN was 3/1and 3 GBs. Clears: Bears 3/1; Gaels 4/2

Period 3 started well as SEAN shot, caught the rebound and scored @10:12. The trend then hit a Gael, as the visitors deposited 3 successive shots in the back of the net- STEPHEN stopped 3 and Landon scored once on 8 shots. X saw HAYDEN win 3 of 4.

The home team restored the fan support with 4 goals in the first ~ 3 minutes:

• @ 10:59 CADEN unassisted

• @ 10:36 #25 c STEWART after a quick F/O win

• @9:46SEAN with an apple to AEDEN

• @ 9:13 DEVIN rocketed past the black-jerseyed G off a nice SEAN pass

Three Landon penalties gave MSJ EMO opportunities, but none converted in this time segment. They did narrow the gap with Gs at 6:57 and 5:26. Great Bear D limited the visitors clear looks at the goal.  HAYDEN dominated at X with 4 of 4, including 2 violations, plus 3 GBs. The clears were even at 3 transitioning the midfield, UNTIL the Bear’s ball control was interrupted AND THEN (UNFORTUNATELY on the far side, so don’t know the 2 players) who drove the Gael player out-of-bounds to get the ball back.
