LANDON LACROSSE 9 GONZAGA 8—OVERTIME

The Bears and the Purple Eagles have a long competitive history (3-2 in favor of the Bears over the past 5 seasons).

Last year at Eye Street, the Gonzaga lead of 5-1 was deleted by an incredible comeback, partially by Chase Robertson’s 5 goals. The game was tied at 10-1, but the visitors quickly ended the suspense as Hayden Goozh won the F/O, Troy Ulisney earned an assist on Kevin Miller’s goal @0:43 expired.

At Triplett Field at Bordley Stadium, the home team registered a lead as (i) SEAN MILLER dodged from behind and beat the Purple Goalie @9:23 (ii) JONAS HAWKINS showed his great hand-eye coordination by snatching a rebound off of the goalie’s stick and shooting before any opponent could react @5:24.

STEPHEN RISO was stout in his nets stopping all 6 of the GCHS shots. Landon cleared 5 out of 6 tries and stopped the visitors on 2 of their 5 clears. Bears had 5 SOGs.

Purple Eagles then had consecutive goals at 7:33 and 2:14 to narrow the margin. SEAN’s determination prevented a tie just before halftime as he drove through the G defender’s ferocious checks AND PUT the #4 on the home team side of the scoreboard  @0:25.8.

They were successful at 7:33, 3:43 and 3:03 (the last tying the score). JOE PAPALIA moved the ball to SEAN @8:40 registering another hat trick in his Century + scoring record.
