Having recently espoused the sabermetrics theorem about the difficulty of winning a third game against an opponent, today’s trip up Rockville Pike proved the exception to the rule. The #5 not so little Hoyas demonstrated significant depth of talent and well-designed schemes. The Bears down 9-3 at half fought back to a -5 deficit in the 900 weather on the GP rugby field (the regular lax field is under several tons of dirt in a multimillion dollar redevelopment.
The home team dominated all phases of the 1st Q. The Hoyas mid-field, deep like the Duke middies, controlled the ball and the pace. Jake Cohen impertinently interrupted the home run with an unassisted goal on a fast-break clear @8:00. The Bears hit 2 on the scoreboard with a goal @0:43—Zal Oehlerking to Stephen Bou.
Life at the X and in the nets were tough.
