Landon Lacrosse 7 The Heights 5

The Cavaliers of Potomac are moving on up. The visitors lost to MIAA Power (2-0) Mt. St. Joes 10-11 and has a talented roster. Their aspirations are shown by the 2023 schedule—SJCHS, Gonzaga, SSSA and DeMatha. A large, GP-like, visitors’ section was further evidence of how they saw this opportunity to set a new Cavalier standard. A win by the young Bears would boost their confidence.  

On a wet, rainy and chilly field, the Cavs took the lead at 3:26 of 1st period. The Bears hit back @ 0:11 on an Anthony Savoy goal.iEND of 1st period Bears 1 Cavaliers 1

Minutes 12:01-24:00 home scored @10:36 by [I’m sorry, but there’s a raindrop there] A string of 3 Heights goals made it H3 C2, but the home team replied with a tying goal by Anthony S with an assist from Troy Ulissney @ 7:39. Coach McGettigan’s team reclaimed the lead@ Steele Maddux’s goal with an apple to Will Cohen. This goal’s catalyst was a Will C. steal followed by his superspeed clear and the pass. Bears up 5-4 at half.

Post halftime break, each competitor beat the opposing goalie. The Heights first at 11:22. Then a major turn of momentum occurred. The Cavaliers had a +2 EMO advantage, BUT a critical caused turnover by Bear/Polar Bear Nico Schermer led to a fast clear and the D was positioned near the Heights goal—bang the long pole put in 6th Landon goal @ 3:36, the lead would not be relinquished. L6 H4

The visitors answered at 9:37 and saw the Bears control possession for much of the remainder of the last Q. Goal #7 was An EMO OPPORTUNITY was converted @ 7:35 by Steele.
