…. LANDON LACROSSE 7 GILMAN 6 O/T ….

The Greyhounds from Roland Ave. have an exceptional roster and came to Triplett Field At Bordley Stadium with a 1-1 record, coming off a loss to GP. Between the flu and lingering winter injuries, the home team fielded almost  its full squad for the 1st time in 2025.

The blue jerseys stepped on the turf ready to play, scoring at 6:17 and then 5:43. SENIOR #23 RILEY LUGAR, a SSDM by trade, grabbed the ball from SENIOR #7 GORDON GOOZH’s win at F/O and  #23 deposited the ball in the back of the opposing goal net @ 5:29.Literally with seconds remaining, #20 NICO PEDROZA transferred the ball to SOPHOMORE #2 JONAS HAWKINS who beat the Gilman goalie @0:15.9.

SENIOR #1 STEPHEN RISO stopped 2 of the visitors’ SOGs; while his brother Bears put 4 SOGs. At X, one of the Greyhound FOGOs is a UNC commit, but  GOOZH and SENIOR #47 TALAN SMITH went 2/4.

END OF 1ST 12 MINUTES—BEARS 2 GREYHOUNDS 2.

One observer might comment that the 2nd quarter exhibited great D; someone. Not so kind, might have found that both teams had an inordinate numbers of turnovers. To underline the ZEROs on the scoreboard, there was one faceoff won by #7. The goalies benefitted from their respective team’s dearth of offense, STEPHEN stopped all 3 shots while his opposing number (actually a 0) did not all 4 of the white jerseys’ shots to beat him.

HALFTIME — BEARS 2 GREYHOUNDS 2

Returning from the intermission, the Greyhounds improved their shooting with 2 goals on 4 shots- at 9:16 and 2:49. Greyhounds had 4 SOGs; while the Bears put 5 on the cage. HAYDEN was successful 2 out of three FO’s

END PF 3RD Q  GREYHOUNDS 4 BEARS 2

At this point the potential themes of the Bear’s Blog were being drafted in disappointing terms, not a favorite genre. The deficit narrowed @8:55 when SENIOR #25 DEVIN STEWART fed fellow #25er #22 AEDEN CASSIDY for the Bears’ 3rd goal.

Gilman replied with a tally, discouraging(?), at 5:08. The momentum returned @5:02 when #47 dominated X passed to #25 (??? bad eyes) to narrow the margin. Landon earned its 5th tally on a connection between #9 SENIOR SEAN MURRAY to JUNIOR #4 MACK COHEN @2:47. Desperation might have set in when Gilman restored their lead with only 2:00 remaining. SENIOR CADEN SOUTHWORTH made a clutch pass to MACK @1:05.

This was STEPHEN’s best Q in the goal, stopping 60% the visitors’ shots!!! Not surprisingly, the Bear O recorded 6 SOGS. #47  won 4 of his 5 challenges at X.

END OF REGULAR TIME BEARS 6 GREYHOUNDS 6

Natural hattricks are rare and even more scarce is a 3rd consecutive, GWG in SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME. YES—THE BIG MACK ATTACK 41 SECONDS INTO THIS EXTRA PERIOD, earned that rare mark.

O/T BEARS 7 GREYHOUNDS 6
