Weather was beautiful (sunny, nice breeze, upper 60s) but the play on the field was UGLY. The two goalies must have appreciated the light, because both were seeing the ball extraordinarily well. Any win over the Bulldogs of Potomac qualifies as GORGEOUS.
Q1 started off inauspiciously with the home team at 14:30. Exit 16 Kevin Miller responded with a nice dodge which lead to the Bears’ 1st goal @6:50. The #8 team (Inside Lacrosse) created a one goal advantage at 5:22.
At X Nicholas Kopp held his own (2W 2L) and Hunter Taylor saw 7 shots, 3 saves and 2 GA.
END OF 1ST Q BEARS 1 BULLDOGS of Potomac 2
The home dogs created a +2 margin at 9:00. The visitors, however, replied—Cameron Brown with an unassisted goal @ 8:47 followed by Stephen Bou’s shot and a goal @5:55. Both of these critical tallies occurred due to tough play around the goal—Cameron fought for a contested GB and then deposited behind the Bullis goalie and then Stephen caught a rebound and quick-sticked it bac.
Q2 saw Nicholas with a 4 and 0 mark at faceoff and Hunter saw 4 shots, made 3 saves and saw 1 beat him.
The Bulldogs have 3 attackmen with DI commits; 3 middies with DI tickets plus one DIII, all 3 Ds are going to the Ivies plus a G going to PSU. In spite of that arsenal, the Landon D (Cullen Brown (4GBs, 3CTs), Sebastian Fischbach, Jake Cohen (1CT)), LSMs Will Cohen, Stephen Schnappauf, Nico Schermer), SSDMs (Chantz Harley, Colin Flood, Nathan Fergeson (2way)) and the MANWALL in front of the 6’ x 6’ HUNTER.
HALFTIME BEARS 3 BULLDOGS 3
At halftime, Coaches Healy, Bordley, et al. must have motivated their young Bears. Though the silly turnovers continued, this 12 minutes saw the visitors shot well. One of the Exit 16 freshmen, Anthony Panetti, showed his speed, but more impressively his talent to shoot on the run – a goal @3:51 to give Landon its 1st lead. That was followed by two consecutive goals by Graham Hertzberg @2:47 and then @1:42.
The Bulldogs scored with only 31 seconds remaining in the period.
The high-powered Bulldogs (12 GA game) were almost shut out by the smothering Bears D. Nicholas went 4 wins 1 loss at the X and Hunter saw 4 shots, saved 3and allowed 1.
END OF Q3 BEARS 6 BULLDOGS 4
Tension infested every second of minutes 36:01 to 48:00. Stephen Bou got his second goal @ 10:57. The assist came from Graham, who didn’t see the shot because a player hit him after his pass. Most significantly, this combination delivered the GWG.
The team of Potomac fought back and brought the final difference to a Landon +1 winning margin.
Nicholas was 2 v. 2 for this period and Hunter saw 4 shots, saved 2 and saw 2 BS goals.
FINAL SCORE BEARS 7 BULLDOGS 6

Oh, by the way a previous AA Goalie, Hunter Sells, was watching his namesake from the stands.
