The 3-3 Stags, with a loss to StA (5-9), turned 1-3 and then 2-5 deficits into a 5-5 tie in the 4th Q. Was it a gap year (PVI on Saturday) or the Bears coasting? The “why’s” are not clear.
The home team came out with an efficient O. Three shots and three goals between 12:00 and 4:56. Kevin Miller was able to beat his DM D with moves from behind—two goals were the product of this matchup. The last of this troika of tallies was from powerful crosse of Cameron Brown.
Curiously, the Stags were not discouraged and responded with a goa; at 1:22 and then 0:01.8.
END OF 1ST Q BEARS 3 STAGS 2
Once again, Landon beat the DM goalie early in 12:01 to 9:36. Kevin moved the round white rock to Anthony Panetti who Beat the back of the net with a rocket @ 10:46; EMO successful. The 5th addition to the Bears’ scorebook was @ 9:36—goal by Anthony Savoy on a fed from Zak Oehlerking.
The visitors upped their numbers with an EMO goal at 5:05.
HALFTIME BEARS 5 STAGS 3
Something happened to the Bear O between ~ 3 minutes remaining in Q2 until 4:41 remaining in Q4. Maybe the Stags D figured out the home offense or maybe the boys in white jerseys relaxed.
The Landon D maintained the +2 margin until 1:01 left in this quarter.
END OF 3RD Q BEARS 5 STAGS 4.
The visitors tied it up by converting +1 player advantage into 5-5 on the scoreboard at 5:30. The DM team and their very enthusiastic fans went nuts, assuming that this equality would stagger the Bears. The change of momentum had opportunities to be realized when Stag players had consecutive point blank shots at Hunter Taylor—game saving stops by #1.
The balance of enthusiasm shifted to the other end of the field as Kevin registered his hat trick with a one-handed GWG @ 4:41. The home team exhibited its stick work and acceleration around the South end of Triplett Field for almost all of the time until 00:00 was on the clock.
Winning in a clutch situation is a valuable lesson and hopefully demonstrates character to used again in this season.
