Bear expectations were positive from a four game winning streak, but tempered because the Panthers have a strong roster ( 14 Div. I commits; 3 F/Os with college commits) and an average of 18 goals per game in its wins. The two losses suffered by the #5 (WaPo) were to #1 (IL) and #2 (WaPo).
The Bear D (SSDMs, LSMs, Ds and G) held the visitors in check—6 goals well below 18 average, more PVI fail-to-clears/shot clock violations and lethal stick checks. Unfortunately, the opposing D inspired by Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini (PVI) were equally stingy.
The Panthers took an early lead with a goal at 3:25.Kevin Miller was first to score when he quick-sticked a uncontrolled save for a goal @2:23.
The next addition to the Landon score was a midfield sweep by Anthony Panetti @ 7:20 of Q2. The visitors were unable to crack the L goal between 12:01 and 24:00.
An extremely bad luck gave PVI a 2-2 tie at 10:59 remaining in the 3rd period and took a lead at 7:03 Kevin earned his second goal @3:30. Fifty-six seconds later the Panthers made it 4-3.
The last quarter saw PVI add 2 to their scoring column—at 8:06 and 4:46. Zach Oehlerking gave the home fans some hope @2:33 with Bear Goal #4 with an assist by Owen Calderone.
