After a close 9-5 win over the Bulldogs of DC and a roster with six senior commits to well-regarded college teams, an objective opinion might postulate a tight second contest. Reality crashed as Coach McGettigan was able to empty the bench – every Bear on this team can say that they played in this BIG victory over Landon’s historic rival.
As with all games, especially those with teams who both know each other well and with excellent coaching, the first 6 minutes were marked with rushes up and down the field, missed passes, caused turnovers (Bears>Bulldogs), but not many significant shots. Landon moved the 0 to 1 on its side of the scoreboard, when SEAN MURRAY fed ANTHONY PANETTI1 @6:01. The momentum continued @ 3:34 when ANTHONY P passed to ANTHONY SAVOY for the 2nd home goal. ANTHONY P fed STEELE MADDUX @1:47 TO ADD +1 to the Bears’ advantage. The trend continued when TROY ULISNEY found SEAN MURRAY @0:25.6 for the 5thtally within 12:00.
The Bear D ([in numerical order] Will Cohen, Davis Owens, AZ Zaid, Nathan Furgeson, Will Abramson and Nico Schermer) smothered the DC Bulldogs starting tis 1st stanza and thereafter—anticipating and intercepting passes, frustrating StA’s clear (forced bad passes), body checks that dislodged the ball for the opponents’ crosses and great positioning. Another note from today’s game: Steele Maddux’s play today was so complete- tough ground balls, smart ball protection, knowing passes as the D converged, cuts from behind GLE that beat his defender and quick sticking a pass for a score.

END OF Q1 BEARS 4 BULLDOGS 0
Early in the second stanza, CHASE ROBERTSON connected with Anthony P for a goal @10:20.
The Bulldog fans wore bedsheets (some Latin Toga Theme? Inspired by this classic?) resulted in the visitors’ somnambulistic play in the previous period. The wake-up call rang at 7:59 when their O clicked for a tally. The Bears replied @ 4:57 ANTHONY P showed his wheels to beat the StA goalie. An able opponent did not fold—4:01 was recorded for their next goalie. Coach McGettigan managed to the remaining minutes ably- GOAL 1:50 on ANTHONY P to TROY pass. Then @0:31.9 ANTHONY P to SEAN. With 0:08.0 on the clock ANTHONY S to ANTHONY P for Landon’s 9th goal. Not to be outdone the DC Bulldogs got their 3rd goal at 0:00

The next period a dramatic play assured the Bears continued to dominate: the StA D held the Bears at bay. With 0:02 on the shot clock, TROY came from behind, passed to STEELE who beat the future NESCAC goalie from an impossible angle @11:26. Good D, better O. TROY added to his stats with an UNASSISTED GOAL @9:31.
A pair of StA goals (at 7:05 and 4:37) separated by a CHASE to SEAN goal @5:03. The Bears’ baker dozen when CHASE showed the Bears’ fitness with overpowering shot @0:51.1.

These less tested Bears were up to the challenge; whilst on the field, the home added 5 scores and the StA only posted 1. Good news for future years.
CHASE earned his #2 goal and 4th point @9:09. StA’s penultimate addition to their scorecard was noted at 7:30
@6:41 CADEN SOUTHWORTH scored unassisted. TROY fed HANK MADDUX @5:08. To remind the visitors of their bad hockey memories (0-2 v. Landon), REID PEHRKON, a high score on the rinks, added two goals @2:58 and 2:02 (EMO)
