Landon Lacrosse 18 Saint Stephen’s Saint Agnes 13

The Bears were challenged with their first IAC game –against the Saints with a 2-0 conference record. Both teams’ rosters are filled with big time commitments and very promising underclassmen. The Bear coaches, aware of the 11am return game in Alexandria tomorrow, started substituting early. Early home team leads of +4 (Q1) and +6 (half) provided some learning opportunities for the Baby Bears.

Landon Sells beat the SSSA goalie at 10:45 of the first quarter. The Saints’ reply at 10:36 saw a quick succession of Bear responses:

Goalie Hunter Taylor was not tested due to the stifling Bear D Cullen Brown, Sebastian Fishback, Jake Cohen, SSDMs Chantz Hartley, Colin Floyd, TJ Kim, LSMs Will Cohen, Colin Flood and Stephen Schnappauf.

A penalty gave the home team an EMO opportunity at the start of Q2.Cameron received a sweet pass from Graham @ 11:26. The Saints narrowed the Landon margin to +3 at 10:50, but added 2 goals- Anthony from  Nathan Furgeson @ 9:45; Graham from Stephen Bou  @7:34; Landon Sells from  Kevin @6:41; ; Zach Oehlerking added one @4:36; Graham another @ 2:12.

The Saints scored five in this quarter.

Nicholas dominated the face-off during this 12 minutes 8-2. Taylor had at least 3 saves.

Again,  a penalty against SSSA resulted in a Bear EMO goal @11:57 Stephen  a slapshot from the top of the key (to mix metaphors) on a nice pass from Graham at X.

Three goals from the visitors drew a final home team goal @ 1:36 by Landon Sells.
