Landon Lacrosse 16 St. Mary’s Ryken 3

Landon Lacrosse 17 St. Mary’s Ryken 3

The Bears drove 80 miles (almost 2 hours in traffic) to Leonardtown, MD to meet the Knights from the tough WCAC. SMR hired a new coach after last season and following a recent pattern, Coach  Lombardo moved down from the collegiate level to high school. The Bears needed a real game to get ready for the brutal next six games on their schedule; the Knight’s coach saw this as an opportunity to test his squad against tough competition. The young ursine lax players played well.

It took a while for Landon to get its rhythm going and when they were syncopating together, the opposing goalie was being beaten like a drum (not his fault). First quarter scorebook:

HALFTIME BEARS 12 KNIGHTS 2

The next fifteen minutes were not as exciting, Coach Healy and his coaches substituted heavily and things like “clears” became a little more difficult for both squads

13 Mason Holleman         —–                                  6:05

3rd Q BEARS 13 KNIGHTS 2

The Knights got their 3rd goal at 5:13

14    Landon    Sells        —-                                   6:29

15    Chantz Harley          —-                                   1:52

16    Ethan Herr               Oscar Smink                    0:57.6

17    Oscar                       Bobby (F/O win)              0:35.8

FINAL SCORE BEARS 17 KNIGHTS 3

Three goalies played, Hunter Taylor, Eli Harrison and Lucas Anderson. The statistics are misleading since the Knights put few shots on goal. Eli did post a ZERO for his time in the nets.

The X-men were dominant, too. Nick Kopp was 10 of 11 with an assist and 6 GBs. Bobby Rudzki won 6 of 8 with an assist also plus 2 GBs.

SATURDAY 11AM HOME v. St. Paul’s with 9 Div. I commits

First game of the season, there was some confusion as to whether the Bears scored 16 or 17 goals. After the coaches review the film, this will be updated to reflect what really happened. Sorry!!! 17 is the right number

If you draw a line parallel to this location, it is slightly South of Fredericksburg, VA. A LONG WAY!!!
