Landon Lacrosse 15 Episcopal High School 5

The Bears traveled through massive I-395 traffic to arrive at EHS’ picturesque Hummel Bowl. The Maroon are coached by 2x AA and 2x NCAA Champion at Princeton. His team had a tough season even though his squad has some 1st rate talent.

The opening segment was competitive with the 1st tally after almost 5 minutes had expired

Stephen Riso stopped 4 Maron SOGs; Hayden Goozh was 4/1 at with  3GBs. The all points Bear clear team was successful on  all but one transition; while EHS’ attempt from D to O was failed twice and converted three times Bears O has 4 SOGs

John McCain’s alma mater followed his fighting character and brought the home team to a -2 margin at 8:44. The Bears aggressive ride led to a turnover and a POLE GOAL as James Schmitt creased the back of the Maroon net for a GOAL @5:15. Jonas showed his passing proclivity by assisting on Sean’s goal @ 4:08 and repeated this talent with a pass to Mac Cohen for a goal@1:45. The Alexandrians responded with their 3rd goal at 2:35. Mr. Riso stood tall in the nets stopping 4 shots while his Bear O put 5 SOGs. The brown jerseys were 4 for 4 in clears and only allowed the EHS team to successfully get the ball into their O zone twice with five failures. The Bear X men (Hayden and Talen) won 2 of 3 F/Os.

Whatever the Landon coaches said in this intermission, IT WORKED. Here’s the barrage:

Stephen shut out the home team stopping all 3 shots, whilehis teammates with short sticks pummeled the EHS netminder with 8 shots. The Bears’ control of this period benefitted from a 6 and 1 effort at X by Hayden’s and Talen’s dominance 6 wins and 1 loss- with Talen’s consecutive wins leading to an  and then a G. Landon successfully took the ball from their defensive end to set up their O 5 out of 6 times while the BEAR EVERWHERE ride team prevented the transition 2 times with 3 clears.

A profusion of clean Bear jerseys were sent on the Humel Bowl turf. A decisive win at X (Talen, whose pass from the middle of the field would be a hockey assist) moved the ball to Sean who transferred possession to POLE Carter DeSanto for the Bears’ lucky 13th@11:45. The Maroon added 2 goals at 9:52 and then 9:02. That run energized the Landon offense: Jonas (his 5th A of the game) fed Sean 5:36. Then Riley Lugar fired a bullet past the EHS goalie @4:18.

Stephen stopped all three shots that he saw and Eli Green entered @5:56 showed some great stickwork in the nets, stopping all of the EHS shots and they were testing attempts. Three FOGOs (adding Kedren Smith) were collectively 4 Ws, 1 L. Bear clears were successful 7 times and 1fail).

Tuesday at home the opponent from Rockville Pike at 4:30- it portends to be a battle.
