Landon Lacrosse 14 Oakton 6

Traditionally the Bears have played one or more of the NoVa powers. The Cougars were the 2018 VHSL State Champions, 12-3 and runners-up in 2017. They have a talented roster, but they provide an opportunity for Coach Healy and his colleagues to test the depth of the Landon team’s talent under fire.

The first period was a staccato of Bear shots hitting the back of the OHS goal nets: bang-Graham Hertzberg @ 11:50;

bang-Garrett Kurtz feeding Graham @ 8:45; bang- Garrett feeding Joey Graham 5:15; bang- Joey G unassisted @ 3:45; bang-Zak Oehlerking @ 2:18; bang-Gavin Seasholes @ 1:14.

The home team ride, team defense and G Mitch Laughlin did not permit the Cougars to occupy any territory without a stick inhibiting the OHS player’s options.

A regular stout 1^st line D middie and future Colby Mule, Miles Tonkel got to show his O prowess: first by assisting on a goal by Evan Schwarz @ 10:32 and then on an unassisted BTB goal @9:38.

The visitors registered their last point on an assisted goal.

To close the game out, Matt Amitay fought his way from a number of Cougar checks and the result was a position directly in front of the opposing net—GOAL @ 4:39.
