Landon Lacrosse 13 Saint Albans 5

The Bears and Bulldogs met for the 2nd time in three days. The teams played again at Triplett Field @ Bordley Stadium, but uniform colors were reversed—StA in home white and Landon in their visiting Brown. The play on the field was changed too; having seen their zone sliced apart by Bear cutters, Coach Colin Heeter had drilled his D to adjust, and the Bulldog goalie started out stopping everything.

The 1st Q’s score, 0-0, reflected those two variables, aided in part by Landon’s shooters to target low against a netminder who was able to stop the below the knee and worm burner attempts. Hunter Taylor saw 8 shots and stopped all 4 that were on goal.

The Landon coaches put a number of fresh players from the beginning (jersey # order)-Jackson Galliani, Ethan Herr, Preston Lugar and Oscar Smink. This depth contributed to the Bears’ extra energy in the last 24 minutes.

END OF 1ST Q LANDON 0 StA 0

The White Jerseys scored first at 10:22, but 11 seconds later the Brown Jerseys responded @ 10:11 on a goal by Graham Hertzberg, an assist by Kevin Miller and a hockey assist by Nic Kopp.

The pace deteriorated until the final 2 minutes before the mid game break. @2:09 Zak Oehlerking found Stephen Bou for a goal. THEN BANG, the drought was overcome by a flood of goals:

Zak to Landon Sells                              @ 0:59

Nic direct from X to Graham                 @ 0:50

Anthony Panetti to Cameron Brown   @0:17

Nic was 5-0 at the faceoff; Hunter faced 3 shots, 2 he saved.

HALFTIME LANDON 5 StA 1

The Bulldogs did not give up, scoring two goals in Q3 at 10:30 and then at 4:38. The Visiting Brown team kept their O going:

Kevin from Graham                               @9:17

        Landon S from Graham                                @3:30

Anthony P to Anthony Savoy              @2:06 *** the last

Graham to Landon S                             @1:19*** two

Zak unassisted( hockey A to Nic)        @1:10*** minutes

StA got their 4th goal at 0:37.

The X was Nic’s with five wins and three losses. Face offs today require exceptional groundball skills—Jake Cohen, Steve, Chantz Harley, Will Cohen and others scrapped to win more than the Bears’ share at the X.

END OF 3RD Q LANDON 10 StA 4

For the third time the White team scored the initial goal, this occasion  at 10:09.

One of the more athletic goals for the Bears was initiated by Hunter, in an on ride, intercepted a Bulldog clearing pass attempt and then the multi-sport Goalie threaded a pass to his buddy from the Landon football team—Graham who then found an open Cameron who buried it @5:19. Hunter qualified for a hockey assist.  The Bears finished a double  freshman to junior set of goals—Kevin to Zak @ 3:28 and then again @2:54.
