A 5-5 Stags team (good coach, tough schedule and good athletes) had the potential to upset the Bears. Landon just defeated Bullis in an emotional game and next week faces top teams from California and North Carolina. DeMatha athletics are known for their winning tradition and these boys were pumped to beat Landon.
Joey Epstein established momentum for his team with two quick goals: speed dodge from behind goal @11:07 and again other side/ head fake @9:07.
The visitors responded with their first score at 8:23.
The Bears beat the DMCHS defense on consecutive goals:
Goal Assist Time Notes
Nate Buller — 4:15 speed dodge out front
John Geppert Joey E 3:37 EMO, great pass to a Griffin Brown shot
Nate T Halm 2:49 T great pass to a wing shot
Ryan Pride Zach Johnson 1:11 difficult to middie cutting through crease
For the first 12 minutes (and all of the time that Justin Shockey played), he was 100% at X. The Bears unleashed 11 shots and 10 GBs

The Stags tallied their #2 goal at 8:23.
Another Bear run produced four consecutive goals

Gilbert Sentimore Nate 6:03 nice crease play
Joey E — 3:08 nice power move
Joey E Joey Graham 2:11 great feed by a gerbil
DeMatha goal #3 was recorded at 0:48.1.

HALFTIME BEARS 12 STAGS 3
At halftime, the starting D and starting attack enjoyed the view from the bench. Coach Bordley affectionately calls the developing players the gerbils and every available Bear played in the last 24 minutes.
The only score by either team was deposited by Joey G @2:33 on a nice dodge and shot at a tough angle.
END OF 3RD Q BEARS 13 STAGS 3
The sun came out to brighten the field and the clean white jerseys played against a tough WCAC opponent. Lucas Anderson went into the 9’ circle to protect the 6’ goal. The middies and defenders have not had much practice time. Nerves or the higher level of competition contributed to errant passes. The visitors 1st string put 5 in the back of the net (3 while Lucas was in goal) at 11:35, 11:03, 6:33, 3:48 and 3:05.
With the Lord of FOGO Island on the bench, the X men did well: Michael Abizaid 5/7, Will Bou 2/2 and Kyle Amitay 1/3; Justin was 12/12 with 8 GBs.
