Landon Lacrosse 13 Bullis 8

Bullis hit the field with expectations of winning their first game of the Bulldogs season. That aspiration did not get immediate gratification as the Bears’ co-captain LSM, DAVISOWEN, gathered in a GB off of HAYDEN GOOZ’s opening face-off win (3/6 for the day; the opposing X man is highly rated), and SCORED @ 11:46.

The Bears did not relent, their up tempo offense delivered another goal @10:38 as SEAN MURRAY beat the Syracuse-bound net man for a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs entered the scorebook at 7:11, but the home team responded with a sweet TROY ULISNEY to CHASE ROBERTSON 3rd register on the scoreboard @6:31. The visitors inched back with a goal at 5:51

ZACH ABRAMSON stopped 3 of 6 shots. Landon got off 7 shots. TALAN SMITH lost his one trip to the X. The new face-off rules reduce the likelihood of a clamp win, and the wings play an increased role in these critical plays

END OF 1ST PERIOD BEARS 4 BULLDOGs (MD) 2

The gray jerseys (school colors blue and maize) got closer with their 3rd tally at 9:55. The Bears did not back down. @6:44 CHASE fed SEAN to restore the +2 advantage. Three Bulldogs hit the nets, at 5:22, 3:00 and 1:32, to reassert their expectations. No, No, No replied TROY who connected with co-captain ANTHONY PANETTI, who had no angle, UNLESS he used a behind-the-back shot to score @0:47. The home team knew how to use the remaining seconds as SEAN SCORED @0:03.3

ZACH made 2 saves on 10 shots. Landon got off 6 shots. TALAN was 1/3 and HAYDEN was 0/3.

HALFTIME BEARS 7BULLDOGs (MD) 5

Out of the break the energized Bullis team earned a goal at 9:35. Landon offense continued on its methodical, high speed O. CADEN SOUTHWORTH beat the Bulldog G @7:47. Followed by MAKARA NEVEROSKY’s wicked shot @6:56. Raising the margin to +4 was a well-timed ANTHONY to SEAN goal 4:34. The visitors got another tally at 1:29.

It should be noted that after 24:00, younger Landon students were playing against the visitors mano a mano with no loss of competitiveness.

ZACH saved 1 BS shotout of 6 shots. The Bears sent 12 pearls at the Bulldog G.

END OF PERIOD 3 BEARS 10 BULLDOGs (MD) 7

As those who have watched the Potomac Bulldogs play, aggression is one of their attributes. Down by three, they scored at 10:34 and their “cellies” were at a level indicating that their 1st 2024 IAC win was imminent. Dashed again…returns the Bear who notched the first goal of the contest and DAVIS’s long pole powered the ball to the back of the net @7:16. DEVIN STEWART showed his stick skills with Bear goal #12 @5:10. TROY garnered his 3 lax assists (4 under hockey rules) as his pass to CHASE counted as his team’s lucky 13th goal @3:27.

A salient stat for this final period was the visitors had 2 failed clears on bad passes during these critical dozen minutes. The Bear rides and depth inflicted lethargy on their adversaries.  ZACH saved 3 sure goals in this quarter on 5 BS shots. Landon launched an equal number but 3 were goals. TALAN bested his opponent at X 2 of 3 faceoffs.
