LANDON LACROSSE 12 NORTHERN/CALVERT CITY 5

Northern Patriots boys lacrosse team is a six time undefeated league champions. In 2016, the Patriots were 19-2 in the Maryland Public High School MPSSAA MD 32 East-2 play and lost in the semifinals to the state champions in their class. Coach Casalino drove his players 50 miles to test them against the Bears. Coaches Bordley schedule this type of contest to develop the younger Bears and to help advance the level of lacrosse in the area.

For the first time in the 2017 season, Landon scored first. Garrett Kurtz moved the ball up top and John Geppert cannoned the ball past the Northern goalie @11:09 (yes, that means that Justin Shockey won the faceoff, the 1^st of 18 for the game with one loss).

The visiting Patriots scored consecutive goals at 8:57 and then 4:03.

Landon responded when Miles Tonkel swept across and fired high to beat the NHS goal @ 2:30. Only 0:18 later (@ 2:12) the FOGO, Justin, went (did not get off) and scored on an assist from Gilbert Sentimore.

END OF 3^RD QUARTER BEARS 11 PATRIOTS 3

The last 12 minutes saw almost every player on the 46 Bears roster played. The experience was against a 19-2 team; passes, shots, GBs, opponents and competition were demanding. Those lessons will pay dividends as they move up on the roster.

The Patriots earned the first two goals (at 11:26 and at 4:06).

Gilbert Sentimore added the 12^th Bear score @1:38.
