LANDON LACROSSE 10 — WaPo #4 Bullis School 8

The Bulldogs of Potomac have 6 seniors with Div. I commitments and ‘24 players going to Bucknell, Syracuse and Ohio State. The game was played on the heels of stormy weather (severe rain, hail, violent winds).1 The adversity did not deter the visiting Bears. N.B. all of the visitors’ goals were scored by boys who will return to the White Rocks for the 2024 season.

The 1st goal was an auspicious one- a deft inside roll dodge and as the attackman was being crushed into the crease (but not into the prohibited invisible box), L’25 SEAN MURRAY beat the BS goalie @7:13. The Potomac team responded with 2 quick goals (4:00 and 1:52) to take their first and last lead!!! TROY2 (as in the measure of gold) ULISNEY cut down the slot, and as he received a pass/assist from CHASE ROBERTSON, scored the Bears 2nd goal @ 0:46 on an extra man situation.

END OF FIRST PERIOD: BEARS 2 — BULLDOGS 2

The next inning did not favor the home team. Visitors scored thrice and home none, nice? CHASE, as he arrived in the Bullis D zone, used his speed to register Landon’s third goal. A nice pass from Christian DAYMUDE to STEELE MADDUX was the connection for the Brown-jerseyed players. Steele reflecting the metal of his name scored in spite of a strong Bullis hit (try that as a portmanteau word). @1:15 TROY earned his second goal on a drive down the alley.

The Landon D played spectacularly throughout the game— ZACH ABRAMSONs saves3; CTs, GBs and exceptional clears by (numerical order—WILL COHEN, ELI SMINK, DAVIS OWENS, AZ ZAID, NATHAN FURGESON, WILL ABRAMSON, NICO SCHERMER. Their coordinated, smart-moving defense frustrated the Potomac O stars.

HALFTIME: BEARS 5 – BULLDOGS 2

A fan clad in blue and yellow, hopefully warmly, might have hypothesized that the Bulldogs were running uphill for the last quarter as evidenced by the scoreboard numbers. That supposition was discredited in this period as the Bears offense did not slow down while the blue/yellow squad ecked out only one more goal. The Bulldogs committed some transgression allowing their opponents a Man Up opportunity, which the boys converted-TROY connected with STEELE @9:49. Bullis responded with a goal at 7:52. The behind goal X-man SEAN found STEELE who beat the future Orange goalie @3:51. The next score came when STEELE, returning the favor from the last goal, passed to SEAN whose second goal was the Bears’ eight @2:37.

END OF Q3: BEARS 8 BULLDOGS 3

The Potomac team scored more goals in this period with tallies at 9:01, 7:01 (EMO),4:50,4:15 and 1:54 (EMO).

The Bears never dipped below the +2 margin. @8:01 CHRISTIAN fed CHASE @ 8:01. The Bullis string of 3 consecutive goals narrowed the Landon margin to +2, but TROY scored the dagger with #10 goal @2:44.

An impressive win that might add to the confidence of theplayers who were one called Form I and II.

FINAL SCORE: BEARS 10–BULLDOGS 8

NEXT 4/5 home v. CARDINAL GIBBONS 12-2 losses to IL #4 McDonough undefeated Springfield-Delco; then the Bears play IL#14 WaPo #3 Bulldogs of Rockville 4/14 also home
