LANDON LACROSSE 10 ST. JOHN’S 11
The Bears traveled to the home of the Cadets, who with a 2-0 record including a big win over Prep posed a challenge. Coach Healy’s team had worked hard since the St. Paul’s game.
Landon scored 1st @ 10:36 on a sweet feed from Cameron Brown to Joey Graham who nailed a corner. SJCHS responded with two consecutive goals—at 9:00 and 7:52.
Bear midfield offense earned the next score on a helper form Graham Hertzberg to middie Cooper Johnson @5:52. An advantage was gained when Landon Sells fed Graham @ 3:06, notably the junior’s pass to his classmate was brilliant. Cooper attained his 2nd goal on a pass from Zak Oehlerking @0:06.0
END OF 1ST 12:00 BEARS 4 CADETS 2
Round two of the back-and-forth battle saw the home team strike twice – at 9:01 and 6:58 — 4-4, but the tie did not last long. Graham bombed his 2nd goal shot past the Harvard-bound goalie @ 5:58. Plus one for the Bears when Graham fed Evan Schwartz for another strike from the midfield @3:48.
The young, deep St. John’s team replied with their goal # 5 at 3:11. Joey found Graham for the Bears’ 7th goal @ 2:26.
As halftime neared, the Cadets narrowed their deficit to -1 at 1:41.
HALFTIME BEARS 7 CADETS 6
The next dozen minutes did not go well for the visitors. SJCHS took the lead with blasts at 7:22 and 6:09. Middie JT Thomas, who had a great 2019 game against the Cadets, scored (assist?) @5:14.
The tie was broken when the home team hit the back of the net at 4:52.
END OF 3RD PERIOD CADETS 9 BEARS 8
The advantage moved further to SJCHS with two goals- one at 8:07 and the +3 tally at 7:11.
Three back and less than 7 minutes remaining could have discouraged the Bears; however, what used to called a BULLDOG was denominated as BEARDODGE, when Graham found his way through a phalanx of Under Armour sticks (presumably from Kevin Plank SJCHS ’90) and was able to beat the Cadet goalie.
The Bear barrage of middie O was continued by Cooper @ 1:16.

MARGIN -1 AND 116 SECONDS. Nick Kopp won his 15th face-off and the Bears were able to launch two final shots. The Cadet goalie made excellent saves to preserve the win.
Hunter Taylor faced 26 shots and saved 10 of them.
There were NO PENALTIES called in a highly competitive, well played contest.
FINAL SCORE CADETS 11 BEARS 10
Off to the 4th consecutive Lacrosse game against a team with “Saint” as the first name. St. Mary’s School of Annapolis at 7pm.
