In a big MAPHL contest, little things can matter to athletes, who are frequently creatures of habit. Same pregame snack, your Bose headset has the right tunes, skates sharpened by your guy and YOUR UNIFORM is just as you like it. Well, when the Bears arrived for their game against the PURPLE EAGLES at Tucker Road, their shells and stockings were not there. So, as this picture shows the Visitors overcame such a superstition, cobbled together suitable outfits and won handily!!!

One of the themes of this blog is to highlight the TEAM, but this game was an unusual one– #3 REID PERHKON scored 3 goals and tallied 2 assists.
Their makeshift outfits did not inhibit the Bears play—60 seconds into the initial play, #3 REID fed fellow senior #16 CHISTIAN BINNER @ 14:00 to take a 1-0 lead. A little later, #21 ELI SMINK feathered a breakout pass (a/k/a an apple) to #3 REID rocketed up the ice and beat the Gonzaga goalie for the visitors @ 9:02.
The Purple Eagles got on the scoreboard at 3:48 (a . That accretion of the score caused the Bears to respond; this time, #3 REID showed his lax acumenby setting up behind goalbyfeeding to the crease where #13 WATTS COLCLOUGH who deposited Landon’s 3rd goal @0:14. The team from EYE STREET responded with a last second score at 0:04.6
1st Period, Gonzaga 10 SOGs; #30 JACK LICALSI stopped 10. The Bears placed 10 shots inside the 60” by 44” frame.
END OF FIRST PERIOD BEARS 3 PURPLE EAGLES 2
Again, the skaters from the White Rocks earned the initial goal of this segment; # 3 REID feeding linemate #10 OWEN MOORE @ 12:36.
Late in this middle section, Gonzaga got a goal at 3:43. The Bears’ margin improves @1:14 on #21’s shot (2nd A)toward the nets and # 16 CHRISTIAN’s shot resulted in his team’s 5th goal (his 2nd goal of game and MAPHL)
2nd Period, Gonzaga 8 SOGs; #30 JACK stopped 7. The Brown-jerseyed Bears placed12 shots on the 60” by 44” frame.
END OF SECOND PERIOD BEARS 5 PURPLE EAGLES 3
Landon’s D from the nets to the D’men (#s 5, 11, 17,18 and 210 and the forwards frustrated the PURPLE EAGLES for the remainder of the time. In contrast, #3 REID was rocketing up and down the ice. @6:18 unassisted; @ 3:27 from #14 TRIPP SILVA. Finally after stealing the puck from the 6 Eagles attackers on the rink, #10 WATTS deposited the black rubber disk in an empty net @ 2:39.
The Bears stifling all rink play held the Eye Street team to 9 SOGs and #30 JACK was brilliant in front of the goal he protected stopping all with more than a few point blanks.
Landon’s 3rd period SOGs numbered 8
FINAL SCORE BEARS 8 PURPLE EAGLES 3
FN- THE EYE STREET GOALIE before this loss, had a 1.98 GAA
