The atmosphere at Cabin John was electric. The Hoyas benefited from their nice home stands. The Bears’ fans ringed the rink. The cheering was an almost constant crescendo, alternating between the two crowds of student bodies. Monumental Sports broadcast the game, connecting a number of Landon alumni around the country. Good ursine karma effused from current and alumni parents present.

The visitors were not as aggressive from the puck’s first deposit on the ice. Prep seemed to possess the puck for much of the initial section of the contest.
However, a streaking Spencer Davis beat the Hoyas D and he came free at an absurdly acute angle. That challenge was bested by #4 who caught the far corner of the GP goal @ 4:32 to establish the Bears lead which they did not relinquish for the remainder of the game.
Within seconds of the Landon go ahead goal, the referees called a penalty against the visitors. The referees saw that the both squads required time in the penalty to play nice (L 6:00; GP 4:00).
These 15 minutes saw Ty Morton stop every one of the home team’s 11 shots and the visitors put 4 SOGs.,

A Landon penalty gave the home team a PP opportunity and they scored at 13:46 (all of GP’s goals were PPs).
The Bears regained their advantage with a goal @ 13:10. The goal was scored by the Buenos Aires Bomber, Tommy Kenary with primary assist to Nicholas Khramtsov and secondary credit to Jack-Henry Lages (L’21). Ten seconds later, the skating zebras called a 5 minute violation against Landon. Later, the refs partially mitigated the impact of the Bear’s long penalty by imposing a 120 second call against the home team. The teams played four -on-four unti the GP player was released from the box. With 0:08 remaining on the initial five minute penalty, the Hoyas scored at 8:08
Period 2: Ty had 10 saves and his teammates tested his opposite position player with 10 SOGs (including 2GA’s).

The Bears effort moved from 1st gear in the 1st period to 4th gear in the 3rd period. The visitors maintained control of the puck for most of the final 15. The Ursine D men— (in order of #s)Chase Blazer, Jake Cohen (L’21), Jack-Henry Lages, Henry Chipperfield, Peter Gilbert (C), and Ethan Weinstein—stood up the Hoyas bearing pucks, made smart exit passes, covered the 2 Hoyas trying to clog up Ty’s crease and block our G’s vision and otherwise protected their end of the rink. The home team had scored 11 third period goals in 6 MAPHL games; Friday the Hoyas tallied only 1 (on a PP) (GP averaged 4.8 goals per MAPHL all 3 periods).
At 6:42 the Prep called a timeout with the played stopped in the Bear O zone. He may have sensed that the visitors were gaining momentum and wanted to cool them off or he may have charted out a strategy. Landon won the face-off and the puck was possessed by Drew Wellington, who moved it over to Little Jake who patiently took 2 or 3 strides towards the center of the blue line. There, @6:27 the freshman D blasted the Bears’ 4th goal into the back of the GP nets. The visitors had a +2 margin
Twenty-one seconds later, another penalty was called against Landon. The Hoyas’ 3rd PP goal was scored at 2:24.
The visitors won the face off and fired several shots. At 0:44 GP was able to move the puck into its offensive end of the rink and their goalie sprinted to his bench.
Nico blocked a shot and the puck bounced to Joey Graham who skated up then rink past the midline and then guided it from afar into an empty net @ 0:23.
Landon outshot the home team 9 to 6 over the last 15 minutes. Ty totaled 28 saves,
