Landon Hockey 4 South River 1

Coach Parker lost five seniors from last year’s successful squad. His 24-25 team has nine freshman and sophomore players plus some skaters of size. His Bears have had limited practice time and faced South River in their first game. The Seahawks have won the MSHL’s East Conference for two consecutive years.

The Bears Den had a boisterous crowd for this opening game and the fans were quickly rewarded after 11 seconds WATTS COLCLOUGH fed linemate REID PEHRKON for the home team’s first 2024 goal. That was followed @8:27 by another goal by REID, unassisted.

The Landon blue line, NICKLAS NYBERG, CHRISTIAN BINNER, DASH COFFMAN, ELI SMINK [C], and ANDREW CHIPPERFIELD limited the visitors to four shots during P1 with JACK LiCALSI stopping all of them. This account of the game would be remiss if it failed to mention that, true-to-a Coach Parker game, the forwards back- and fore- checking contributed to that strangulation of the Seahawks’ offense.

The Bear O put 10 shots on goal during this 12 minutes

The next stanza was noted by a GOAL @  5:57 on a sweet passes from TRIPP SILVA and ELI SMINK to PETER DESKOVICH for his 1st tally of this season. After a tremendous pass from ELI The Babson bound REID showed a Saquon Barkley-like spin to register another goal @1:48.

Period 2 saw JACK stop all 4 SOGs while his Bear Brothers put 7 SOGs.

END OF 2ND  PERIODBEARS 4 SEAHAWKS O

This advantage gave the Landon youngsters more experience. While they had skated from 36:00 to 24:00, this last segment was filled with contributions from the new faces on the team. Noticeable among this new group was new goalie, GREG STAFFELL who stopped nine shots propelled at his nets, only beaten on a Seahawks PP. The home team only managed 3 SOGs.

FINAL SCORE BEARS 4 SEAHAWKS 1

Bears return to the Den Friday at 6:10 against GP in a non-league game
