LANDON HOCKEY 4 O’CONNELL 4
The ’19-’20 MAPHL season is proof that the transitive math principle applies to their teams, i.e. Bishop J. O’Connell lost to Mt. St. Joe’s 0-3 and Landon beat MSJ 8-2. Prep has not lost since its SJCHS game. \Landon should beat BJO 11-2. There are many other examples involving almost all of the MAPHL teams (except Bullis and Calvert Hall). Travel team absences, illness and the hormonal aberrations of young males account for these variances from mathematical expectations!!!
The confines of the Capitols training facilities at the MedStar complex are not immune to these aberrations.
In a game filled with penalties (team totals collectively spent 20 minutes in the penalty boxes, each team equal measure), the Bears scored first on a PP in which Matthew Brille gathered the puck in his defensive end, skated through all of the Knights, circled under the BJO goal and tucked the puck into the nets @ 8:03.
Soon thereafter the home team responded on a PP with a goal at 5:39. Another Bear penalty gave the Knights a +1 skate advantage and deposited the black spheroid into the back of the opponents 72” x 48” x 40” aperture to take a 2-1 lead at 3:00.
Undaunted, the visitors took advantage of an advantage to score a PP goal @ 2:04. This assault on the BJO goal started with Matthew who transferred the bean to Oscar Smink, who then found Jacob Hookman-Vassa for a tally @ 2:04
As the clock moved to 0:00 of the initial period, the referees say fit to find a Knight worthy of entering the hockey sin bin.
END OF 1ST PERIOD BEARS 2 KNIGHTS 2
Bears SOGs 11 Bear saves 7
The Knights stopped this powerplay but regained the lead with their 3rd goal at 9:15.
The Bears tied it up with a beautiful goal in which Jacob skated behind the BJO goal from right to left. As the Knights D mover towards the left, the ’22 defenseman slide his puck back to the right where Ryan Giles completed the play with a goal @ 6:15
END OF THE MIDDLE STANZA BEARS 3 KNIGHTS 3
Bears SOGs 24 Bear saves 4
A Knight slash penalty resulted in another Landon PP. The puck moved smartly among the Bear players. Oscar Smink passed to Matthew who slid the puck East to West along the blue line. As it reached Jacob, he cranked a supersonic slap shot that the BJO netminder had NO CHANCE OF STOPPING @ 11:43.
Two Bears incurred the wrath of the skating Zebras, but the PK team successfully defended Max Weinstein and their goal.
With 1:07 left the home team traded its goalie for a six attacker and the Bears successfully frustrated their opponents for 0:55, but a Knight slipped past his defender for the tying goal at 0:12.3.
FINAL SCORE BEARS 4 KNIGHTS 4
GAME TOTALS: Bears SOGs 43 Bear saves 20
IF A GAME AGAINST StA IS NOT ENOUGH MOTIVATION TO COME OUT FRIDAY AT THE BEARS’ DEN @ 6pm, THEN KNOW THAT
