Landon Hockey 4 Mt. St. Joe’s 1

The Bears met the Gaels in a major MAPHL contest. The Baltimore skaters had three wins (DM, SJCHS, StA) under their belt, 2^nd in the league on the basis of their 6 points.

Landon hit the Ice Gardens Ice Rink with a lot of energy.  42 SECONDS into the match #3 REID PEHRKON flew by the Gael defenders and beat the MSJ goalie for the Bears 1^st score. The home team incurred a penalty, and their guests took quick advantage of it; @ 11:05, #16 CHRISTIAN BINNER fed #13 WATTS COLCLOUGH as their centerman cut to the goal- #3 REID buried the puck into the back-of-the-net for a PP tally.

Landon was 50% on SOGs (2 of 4) and #29 GREG STANFILL had a 100% save rate on 6 MSJ shots.

Not much can be said about the next 15 minutes; for it was primarily an up-and-down the ice stanza. GOALIES stopped all SOS, both teams shot were on net 7 times. No penalties, either!!!

The Gaels must have quenched their thirsts with Grape Gatorade, for after 13 shots that missed the Gaels scored at 14:47. Coach Parker’s squad showed its resilience. Thereafter Landon put 12 shots on the net with two qualifying as biscuits in the basket. #17 RYAN BIDERMAN registered his 2^nd 2024-25 MAPHL goal @ 3:58. MSJ called a time-out at1:45 with a deuce deficit and after drawing a planned GWG, pulled his goalie. IT DID NOT WORK; the Bears took the puck away from their opponents. Freshman #7 MAX MARKAKOS carried the 3.5” x 1” hard rubber sphere into the Bear O Zone, forsook a empty net goal and passed the opportunity to #10 OWEN MOORE @ 1:01.

Landon’s D, led by Captain #21ELI SMINK [ note: the PVI blog stated that he had scored his 1^st goal as a BEAR—WRONG], held the frantic Gaels to only 6 shots and GREG stopped all but one.
