LANDON HOCKEY 4 GP2

For the second time in 9 days, the Bears and the Little Hoyas met at the Bears Den and for the second time, the home team won with a 4-2 score.

The Landon D, especially Goalminder Leo Quattrone, was solid for all 45 minutes. The Blue Liners (in # order—Caden Blazer, Arthur Smink,  Alex MacMillan, Ethan Goldman, Colin Flood, Graham Haberl, Zaakir Kahn) plus the back-checking forwards frustrated the GP offense—(IAC and MAPHL do not include SOG stats).

  • In the 1st period, the Little Hoyas only put 5 SOGs,

  • 2nd Leo had to make 3 saves from 15:01 to 30:00

  • and in the final stanza, GP recorded 6 SOGs.

More Interesting numbers,

  • the Bear D held Prep to 0 SOGs in period#2 until the final 102 seconds

  • in the last period #30 stuffed a penalty shot and then with @ 1:50 the home goalie stopped a point blank shot!!!

Enough about the defenders—no one scored for the home team in period 1. The next 15 minute segment started @ 13:32 when Alex MacMillan moved the puck to Ishaan Sethi who found Owen Calderone for the all-important  Bears’1st GOAL.

The last frame has been tense in recent matches; however, the next goal @10:29 started with Owen passing to Quinn Farland who assisted on Alex’s goal. The margin grew when @9:51 Owen fed Kevin Fou for Bear tally #3.  The Little Hoyas brought the home margin to a mere +1. Within 120 seconds remaining the visitors pulled their goalie, only to see Ishaan put the puck into the Empty Net from long distance @ 0:56.7 clinching a sweep of GP in league play.

FINAL SCORE BEARS 4 LITTLE HOYAS 2

Next game 2/17 at what they now quaintly call “the Fort” v. StA at 5:30pm.
