Landon Hockey 4 Georgetown Prep 0.00

In a key, late season MAPHL/IAC game, the Bears dominated. As the Brown-clad visitors scored twice in the 1st and then 2nd periods. The Landon D held the Little Hoyas a/k/a Bulldogs to only 10 SOGs over 45 minutes of play, all of which were stopped by #29 GREG STAFELL for his second Shut Out of League play.

The Bears play full ice team defense- aggressive forechecking, tremendous positioning and constant breaking up GP outlets with body and stick checking. This is not just an effort by the defensemen, but the Landon forwards prevented their opponents from moving or controlling the puck. The Little Hoyas were under such pressure that their fans resorted to cheering when their players cleared the puck from their D zone and were ecstatic when the hard black sphere made it to the GP O zone.

Landon’s scoring started with a pretty pass from #10 OWEN MOORE to #3 REID PEHRKON for a PP goal @ 12:22. The MAPHL site noted that it was the GWG this early in the contest. Freshman #6 OLIVER LINDER-BODAGER scored next on a feed from REID @ 5:04. The Bears put 10 SOGs in P1.

Clearly, the Little Hoyas were more inspired between 15:01 and 30:00 for they held back Landon’s shooters until @3:15 #13 WATTS COLCLOUGH beat the Bulldog Goalie with assists to #27 ANDREW CHIPERFIELD  and #17 RYAN BIDERMAN. The finishing touch came from a last second attack #13 Watts escalating up the rink and feeding #6 OLIVER @0:06.

More Bears got some PT during the final 15 minutes and still they held their rival to one SOG. #29 GREG’s shut out was intact.

FINAL SCORE BEARS 4 GP 0.

FRIDAY at Tucker Road 4pm v. GONZAGA (5-2). ANOTHER IMPORTANT GAME.
