The Bears faced the HERETOFOR undefeated Cadets (9-0-0) with a +/- of 52 and its top goalie had a 1.20 GAA (10 games). The pregame momentum was on the SJCHS side, having crushed Gonzaga 7-2.
Coach Had the Bears ready for their foe, skating with the Cadets in smart, fast aggressive hockey. The home team scored first, always a good omen in hockey, when @10:21 GRAHAM HABERLE showed that D men can carry the puck and score. Soon thereafter, the visitors showed their potent O, 5 SJCHS skaters in the MAPHL top 10, at (9:38).
The visitors had 6 SOGs and DANIEL ROSENSTOCK stopped all but 1; whilst the home O put 11 SOGs

Period #2 was a defensive battle. DANIEL stopped all Cadets 8 SOGs—credit blueline (in numerical order CADEN BLAZER, NIKLAS NYBERG, GRAHAM, DASH COFFMAN, ELI SMINK, and ANDREW CHIPERFIELD) and heavy fore- and back- checking from wingers (in numerical order REID PEHRKON, HANK MADDUX (several hits that drew cheers from the Bear Brethren in the stands), OWEN MOORE, DECLAN JAMBERDINO, CHRISTIAN BINNER, RYAN BIDDERMAN, and JACK McSHANE). A most impressive defensive structure and execution. The Bear O put 7 SOGs.
END OF PERIOD 2–BEARS 1 CADETS 1
The re-icing, Coach Parker’s inspiration and heavy Gatorade doses reinvigorated the Bears. Taking a lead @ 13:06 with a CHRISTIAN D goal on an ANDREW assist. The back-breaker occurred @12:53 when REID took a rebound off the boards and beat the SJCHS goalie.That left a lot of time for the Cadets to respond, but the Bear D frustrated the visitors holding them to only 5 SOGs all saved by DANIEL. The referees detected two penalties against the home team; the D had to skate 3 on 5 for 1:02. Test #1 the D limited the Cadets to but 2 shots in the 62 seconds and DANIEL stopped all of them. At 1:50 the visiting coach pulled his goalie and even with this 6 on 5 skater advantage, the 3rd period shutout continued with a period total of 5 SOGs by SJCHS while the Bears put 9 SOGs.
