Landon Hockey 3 Kiski 1
The Kiski Cougars (1-1) drove 214 miles to play the Bears at the Bears’ Den.

The Saltsburg, PA boarding school has dominated the ISHL Championship and the ANC Championship for the four straight years, and won the Midwest Hockey Tournament for the third straight year. Kiski will travel to Ohio, New York, and Canada for non-league contests. The Cougars’ aggressive non-league schedule is designed to prepare the team for the league tournament at the end of the year. The school founded in 1888 has attracted skaters from Canada.
The Kiski players got off of the bus ready to play. They skated well and competed evenly through the first 15 minutes.
The Cougar ZERO was attributable to Leo Quattrone’ s 11 saves. His teammates kept the pressure on the visitors’ goalie with 15 saves.
END OF 1ST PERIOD BEARS 0 COUGARS O
The Pennsylvania squad scored first at 8:16,but the Bears replied with their initial goal @7:41 with Michael Hardie depositing the puck in the back of the net after a nifty pass from Ethan Goldman. As the clock approached the end of this “inning”, Landon took the lead @0:57 on a tally by Ishaan Sethi with the helper to Arthur Smink. The Arthur’s puck from the point changed directions when it hit Ishaan making it impossible for the KS goalie to stop.
This period saw Leo stop 7 of 8 Cougar SOGs. The Bear O threw 15 SOGs.
Having watched Landon hockey for more than a decade, it is clear to me that these Bears like/are good at passing to their brothers up the ice. The D starts with aggressive, well-orchestrated forechecking and continues with superb positional play. The break-outs, frequently erratic in early season, run smoothly. The O and D execution has contributed to 3 straight game wins.
END OF 2ND PERIOD BEARS 2 COUGARS 1
Minutes 30:01 to 45:00 continued the earlier Bear tracks- strong D and great chances in the O zone. Ethan now got credit for the Bears’ 3rd goal with an assist Kevin Fou @ 1:13.
Over this section of the game, the visitors fired every puck that they had on their sticks in the Kiski O zone. Leo stopped all 7 SOGs that he faced. The Landon O continued its assault on the Cougar net with 13 SOGs.
FINAL SCORE BEARS 3 COUGARS 1
The 5-1 Bulldogs pf Winston Churchill, the 2020 Montgomery 1 returning champions, come to the Bears’ Den on 12/13 for a 4:15pm match.
Too many Bulldogs –StA, GP, Bullis and WCHS—not enough originality?
