Traveling to Cabin John to play the team from Rockville Pike is a form of penance. The MoCo rink has poor ice, inadequate stands and the worst sight lines of any team in MAPHL. The home team, according to its manager, has played 6 games; whereas, the Bears have had one scrimmage against St. John’s College High School and an IAC match against SSSA.
The 1st period tested the boards at the circumference of the ice (loosely translated) with stern checks by both teams. The home team had the initial tally at 6:41 remaining of the opening period. The Bears responded @6:01 on a goal byQuinn Farland with assist to Arthur Smink. Two minutes later one of 3 IAC schools with a Bulldog as a mascot took the lead at 5:03
The next 15 minutes saw the goals remain relatively untouched; GP tallied at 5:17.
The Bears, with strong support from their vociferous fans, did not back down. The team from Rockville Pike added to the advantage with a fourth biscuit in the basket at 7:59. Quinn beat the GP goalie @5:51 with helpers by Zaakir Kahn and Ishan Sethi. Another Bulldog “back-o-the-net” was recorded at 1:43. Unfazed Quinn earned his hat trick @ 0:41 assists by Zach Lammers and Ishan.
