LANDON HOCKEY 3 GONZAGA COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL 4

The Purple Eagles arrived at the Bears’ Den with a 13-4 overall and MAPHL leading 7-0. Their roster is replete with seasoned veterans while Coach Parker’s squad arrived with a 4-0-1 record and a relatively young team.

Gonzaga hit the ice with speed, sharp passing, and well-orchestrated breakout plays. The results two goals (at 14:18 and 8:38) part of a 9 SOG 1st period. DANIEL ROSENSTOCK stopped 7. His teammates put 8 SOG (v. Purple Eagle G undefeated, a 1.43 GAA and a .928 save rate).

During PERIOD 2, the Bears seemed to regain their skating alacrity and moved the puck more effectively. GRAHAM HABERLE tipped in a REID PERKHON ridiculous angle shot @ 6:22. With the end of this frame coming to an end (1:38), a breakaway was tucked in. BEARS 7 SOGs; PURPLE EAGLES 13 SOGs and DANIEL 12 saves.

The ice was resurfaced and the home team’s aggressive play amped up. They brought the differential to -1 when ANDREW CHIPPERFIELD slid the spheroid to REID who got it to CHRISTIAN DAYMUDE who buried it @8:54. Down 2 with less than 2 to go, the BEAR goalie joined his teammates on the bench. Bad luck ensued as a Gonzaga skater broke out of his D zone and restored their advantage at 1:38. Undaunted Landon did not relent, and OWEN MOORE scored with apples to REID and DECLAN JAMBERDINO @1:12. Just not enough time to earn a tie. BEARS 14 SOGs; PURPLE EAGLES 6 SOGs and DANIEL 5 saves. Totals L 29; G 28

[NOTE: these are MAPHLshots/saves #s; my bad eyes recorded more]
