Clearly the Wildcats team (a club, not a WJHS varsity team) was interested in getting some competition before it heads to its Maryland Student Hockey League schedule. The team has already played in 5 games (2-3)

In early season matches, one looks for passing, shooting, positioning, break out passes, defensive coordination, goalie protection, goalie performance and effort. The 2017-2018 unit is minus some talented ’17 seniors and has added about 5 new skaters to the roster. Coaches Farnstrom, Sears and Weiss checked a lot of these signs of good hockey; yet there are areas needing improvement before the IAC and MAPHL seasons begin. [1^st MAPHL same against St. Mary’s Ryken. Last year the Bears lost 2-4.]

The game did not so well for the visitors.  A breakaway by Spencer Davis, who deked at least 3 defenders to score at 12:17.  By the end of the 1^st period the Bears had notched 4 goals while holding the opposition to 2 Shots on Goal.

The 2^nd period included 5 more Bear goals while Bear Goalie Max Weinstein stopped the only WJ shot on goal.

The Bear’s 10^th goal was registered 61 seconds into the 3^rd period and under an agreement of the coaches, the clock did not stop for the remainder of the game. Three more tallies were written into the scorebook.
