LANDON HOCKEY 1 MT. ST JOE’S 1

A scorer, whether it be hockey or lacrosse, must have talent (hand eye, speed, hard shot among other things), but that base will grow with experience. Game time against strong opposition refines those skills to add confidence. The young Bears had such a learning moment on 12/1 versus MAPHL opponent, the Gaels of MSJ. In particular the purple puck eater, a/k/a Matt Pister, who has an .934 save average and a 2.0 GAA in three games (1-0-2) (team MAPHL record 1-2-2) gave the Bears a lesson about where to place shots. 😦

The Baltimoreans scored in the middle period; a Bear turnover, rebound and then a goal. Otherwise, Goalie Jack Licalsi saved the other 11 shots.

The Bears were unable to beat the Purple Haze in MSJ nets though the home skaters registered a plethora of SOGs—1st Period 14; 2nd Period 13 and 3rd period 14. It took pulling the Bear goalie at ~ 2:00 remaining and with the clock reading 1:01, Reid Pehrkon beat the MSJ goalie with assists to Caden Blazer and Graham Haberl.

Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School is the next visitor to the Bear’s Den 12/6 4:30pm. The Knights saw Mr. Fister in a 3-3 tie; unreported is a 11/29 match v. Gonzaga; they play the Potomac Bulldogs 12/4.
