Landon Hockey 1 Georgetown Prep- the Rockville Bulldogs won in a shootout 1-0

It is a universal sports truth that it is very difficult to beat an opponent twice, add to the calculation that your opponent is a BIG RIVAL, the probable ratio climbs exponentially. The Bears beat the GP team 4-2 on 2/2 in the regular season. The Wednesday MAPHL quarterfinals after 45 minutes had a 1-1 sign on the scoreboard.

The visitors scored in Period 2 on a PP goal. The Bears responded in the final stanza with an exceptional, yet not unexpected deke by REID PEHRKON that deceived  the Little  Hoyasgoalie for the tying goal @ 8:54 and the Bears tallied this score EVEN THOUGH GP was on a powerplay.

The teams spent another 5 minutes on even strength with neither beating the opposing netminder.

MAPHL rules set a shootout to decide the victor. Ten shots were made and all but one failed to score = win for GP

Game totals:

Bears SOGs 31 Bulldogs 19

Daniel Rosenstock 19 saves.

This is a young Landon hockey team. The roster has 5 members of the 2024 Class. Coach Parker has established team superb energy, an aggressive and full ice pressure approach, a high shot profile, an efficient powerplay O and equally effective PP defense. Though this was a disappointing loss, there is no doubt that the Bears had a successful season and a bright future.
