Beating your traditional rival is a great way to end a season and that the Bears did with an ! mark. Pregame home fans were all fired up; they wanted it badly. Add to the momentum, the Bulldogs were celebrating Senior Day. In contrast, the visitors were quiet with confidence.

StA won the toss and elected to receive the kickoff, indicating that they thought that their O could move against their ICA opponent. Three plays, interspersed with penalties on both sides, moved the oblong spheroid to their own 42. There the advantage was lost on a fumble.

Landon’s first possession resulted in a TD6:50 of Q1, the final 15 yards were covered by Ethan Ming. PAT—Tiller Smith to Sean Murray and Tommy Trowern BEARS 7 BULLDOGS 0

Seven passes by StA 21 net yards and a punt gave the Bears another O chance starting at their own 6. The challenge of 94 yards to score was met with seven runs and 3 completions. Taylor Best weaved through many StA defenders for the 3 yards TD PAT good BEARS 14 BULLDOGS 0

TheDC Bulldogs ran 4 plays without reaching the lone to gain so the visitors started their attack with 3 runs = 2 First downs but then could not connect on passes. Ball to StA and another 3 and out. The next LS possession saw the ball move on the ground followed by a deflated aerial attack. Next blue jerseys’ ball was a pass that Taylor skillfully intercepted.

Three downs set up a 4th and 4 yards. The punt team came on the field, but instead of kicking a surprise pass from #32 (?) to Zachery Cameron advanced the line of scrimmage to the S20; next play Taylor once again negotiated a path through to the END ZONE 20 yards away@1:47. With little on the clock, StA “matriculated” the ball 20 yards, only to connect with Nathan Rosner for an interception. One more chance for the Bears to cross the goal line? NO a Bulldog DB intercepted a pass with what appeared to be a PICK SIX- HOWEVER NATHAN FURGESON disagreed and tackled the blue jersey at the Bears 2 yard line and 0:05 on the clock. In the shadow of the Cathedral, TAYLOR made a miracle interception– no StA points in 24 minutes.

The first drive of the 3rd Q repeated a tradition—handing the ball to a senior lineman for a run. Big T Y Reyes lined up at tailback and crashed the line for 4 yards. Other threats in this 54 yard, 7 play progression to the 4th TD included runs by Ethan, DP Pope (also a pass catch), Taylor and the last 11 yards past the goal line by Nathan F—TD PAT ,good BEARS 28 BULLDOGS 0

The home team fought hard for 8 plays only to come up short on 4th and 2. This decision placed the visitors 75 yards from another TD and the distance was covered by 8 runs–Ubie Zaid, DP, Anthony Panetti Taylor and Troy Ulisney. Mr. Pope showed illusiveness in dodging several DC Bulldogs on the way to a 24 yard TD@1:23PAT good. END OF THIRD Q BEARS 35 BULLDOGS 0

Under IAC rules a +35 point margin results in running clock. StA was stout in its determination and scored on a 68 yard drive. Steuart Field must have fueled this 7 run, 68 yard drive, PAT good BEARS35 BULLDOGS 7 AT 7:03 REMAINING AND RUNNING.

An onside kick was recovered, and this time LB/OG Antony Savoy got his senior run +1. An StA penalty on the Bears’ punt consumed valuable seconds on the clock plus the home team used a single wing formation, runs eating up scarce time. Three runs, a recovered fumble and a PBU by Ubie resulted in a turnover on downs. Three QB taking a knee drained the remaining time.
