LANDON FOOTBALL 29 #17 DUNBAR 52

Bear numerologists may recognize that today’s (09/13) date was doomed by triskaidekaphobia ; skeptical, the Crimson Tide’s score is a multiple of this date. In two games the returning DCIAA – Stars Division: Division AA champions racked up over 100 points including a win over a WCAC team.

Landon’s 2024 schedule has posed teams with greater size than our weights/heights but were able to overcome that disadvantage with speed and skill. DC’s Crimson Tide’s linemen more resembled  Alabama namesake mascot, an elephant. They also had excellent acceleration and hand eye coordination. Their pluses eventually prevailed.

Down 0-8 2:15 in the 1^st Q, the home team responded with an 85 yard drive (TD—SEAN MURRAY TO CADEN SOUTHWORTH  for 42 yards). Then an onside kick (?inadvertent) gave the ball back to the Bears and a SEAN 51 yard TD pass to KALSEN WOHKGEMUTH @6:30 made it BEARS 15 CRIMSON TIDE 8

A Dunbar pass ended up in the clutches of SEAN, the interception putting Landon 1^st and 10 at their own 48. SEAN to CADEN again for a TD @4:40 of Q1, PAT good BEARS 22 CRIMSON TIDE 8.

Another Landon turnover allowed the DCIAA 2023 division champs to get back in the game. As the quarter counter moved to the second period, Dunbar added another 8 to their total—at 10:17 BEARS 22 TIDE 16.

The teams traded turnovers and Dunbar moved ahead in the score at 10:32 of Q2 TIDE 24 BEARS 22.

An excellent play of a Dunbar pass, by JAMES GIBSON returned possession to the home O. Five plays 0runs by MACK COHEN and SEAN) led to a SEAN to CADEN TD in which the WR broke a tackle @ 5:45 BEARS 29 TIDE 24. The talented visitors moved their total to 32. They struck again before half to make it TIDE 32 BEARS 29.

Suffice it to say that Dunbar returned the 3^rd period kickoff AFTER  the head referee blew a penalty whistle. TIDE 39 BEARS 29 at 11:45.

The remainder of the game resulted in a 29-52 loss.
