Landon does well at prestigious StA (Varsity) and St. James (JV) wrestling tournaments

The wrestling team split up again this weekend. The Varsity went to the traditional St. Alban’s tournament. We found out this weekend that Coach Murphy wrestled and won this tournament back in the day. The next generation of Murphy wrestlers did well too. Justin placed 3rd place in a very tough weight. He beat all of the local competition as the 1st and 2nd place wrestlers were from New Jersey and PA, respectively.

First year wrestler, Dillon Rupp had an amazing showing. He battled his way to 8th place in a very competitive tournament.

Considering we only had 6 wrestlers, due to injury and sickness, the team did relatively well at 24th place (35 point) out of 32 teams. EHS and Bullis both made the top 10 teams which is where we would have been if we had our full line up.

The JV team traveled to St. James. Coach Smith reports that every wrestler but 1 got at least one victory. In the end, Jack Feldman walked out a champion after fighting off his back and coming back for the victory. Jules Desroches took 3rd place after a good day of wrestling.
