Landon 8 Good Counsel 5, KB Award, Alumni Game (call for players) and a Senior Profile

Coach Bordley gave his Bears a scenic tour of the environs of Olney and arrived at Good Counsel with a small margin. The visitors took a while to warm up their offense and to clamp down on the Falcons until the 3^rd and 4^th Qs by which time they scored 5 consecutive goals and shut off the opposing O for 25 minutes. Another view of the game was that each team had exceptional goalie play, but Alex Joyce’s Bears had more firepower while the GC goalie Patrick McEnerney (Loyola Class of 2015). Whatever the analysis, Landon earned a solid 8-5 victory.

Charlie Schnider opened the Brown jerseyed team with an unassisted goal at 10:41. LS GC 0 At 8:00 of the 1^st Q, Will Laco added another goal. GC attackman Nolan Filet got the Falcon’s first goal at 7:40, but Patrick Keena returned the margin to +2 with score at 5:19

END OF 1^st Q LS 3 GC 1

An early Matt Opsahl goal on an assist from Keena @ 9:33 L4 GC 1. The GC team got fired up when they scored two goals to reduce the Bear’s advantage to plus one—Garret Brewer from Luke Poulos @ 6:15 and then Brendan Durkin unassisted @ 3:32.

HALFTIME LS 4 GC 3

Whatever adjustments made at half worked. With a  carryover from the previous period and through to the last 90 seconds of the 4^th Q, Alex Joyce and his cohorts carrying short and long stick BLANKED the Falcons for 25 minutes. Instrumental in this success was the Bear’s very active ride, causing numerous turnovers and several :30 second violations. IMPRESSIVE EFFORT!

The Bear O also benefitted to the coaches halftime exhortations—Hank Brown plunked an unassisted goal at 8:29, followed soon thereafter by a “I-will-not-be-denied” Peter Laco drive, shot and goal @ 7:19. The 3^rd period troika was completed with a Patrick Keena goal from a nice Tommy Minkler pass @ 6:29

END OF 3^rd Q LS 7 GC 3

A number of untested Bears played most of the 4^th Q and they extended the shut out and added to the Bears’ goal total with a Matt Opsahl tally @ 2:50. GC’s Filet and Poulos were able to get more points at 1:26 and 1:06 (the 1^st was an EMO effort).
