Landon 7 RP 8 in overtime

The margin for error in a Landon- RP game is ALWAYS very slim. Not being able to play 5 Bears due to injury and included in that number is a top midfielder and the #1 face-off guy makes that margin even narrower. Allowing  goals at 0:10 and 0:01 remaining did not help. The overtime loss of 7-8 is strong evidence of how close this game was.

The Hoyas took the lead at 10:40. Sean O’Brien fed Colton Rupp for the Bears’ first goal @ 6:36. The visitors responded with two tallies- one at 3:20 and at 0:10.

END OF 1ST Q H 3 L1

That began a long period of excellent D by the Bears; 22 minutes of shutting the RP players (0:10 of the 1st Q to 1:28 of the 3rd Q).  During this period, Austin Petty bull dodged his way toward the crease and scored @ 7:04.

HALFTIME H 3 B 2

The halftime adjustments to the Bear O worked for the home team put the first three goals on the scoreboard—Jack Falk drove from the midfield to score @ 9:58; the Robby Dunigan put one in at @ 5:35 and finallyColton Rupp made a sweet pass to Sean O @ 3:03. This goal traced its origins to a fight for a ground ball in the Hoyas’ end and Jack Bolen, in among some serious trees and hitting, came up with the ball and started the successful fast break.  RP responded at 1:38 and at 0:01.

END OF 3RD Q B5 H 5

Sam Lynch inverted and beat his man and with that margin fed Sean O @9:06 for goal #6. The Hoyas responded with goals at 8:01  and 0:59. The Bears got possession and took a time out with about 45 seconds remaining. After several rotations of the ball designed to create an opportunity, the ball ended up in Robby’s stick; he made several dodges and had a small bit of separation. He scored, hitting the high, far corner, @0:12.

END OF REGULAR TIME B7 H 7

The Bears had the first possession, but were unable to convert. The ball went to the other end and RP’s shooter caught the net fractions of an inch below the pipe.

FINAL SCORE H 8 B 7

Odd fact: a Landon- RP game with one 0:30 penalty.
