DARION is a Knick with help from a fellow Bear

The NCAA Defensive Player of the Year, the ACC DPOY, Portsmouth MVP, a member of the NBA Las Vegas Summer League champions, a proud UVa Cavalier and a Bear, Darion Atkins (L’11) signs a contract to play for the New York Knicks. All of Darion’s play on the courts is known, what is not know is the huge effort he gave in the gym and in the weight room to get better.

But there is another Bear in this story in the background– Scott Hetterman ’99. He is the Managing Partner at SMH International Consulting. Armed with Darion’s impressive record, Scott networked with NBA General Managers. Using his understanding of the maze to the Association, he helped Darion to get an invitation to the Portsmouth Showcase Tournament where teams find talent. There Darion earned the MVP.  Scott has great contacts around the basketball world, including a network in Africa.

The basketball talent savvy San Antonio Spurs gave the big Bear a slot on their Las Vegas summer league team. Again he did well, but unfortunately the Spurs signed two veteran power forward studs. No room at the Alamo.

Then the Knicks with Hoops genius Phil Jackson. Now the pen of Darion signed the contract with Momma Minette Atkins at his side.

Wizards fans beware. Darion will be tough, but having his Mom pray for Darion and the Knicks could be bad.
