Bullis 26 Landon 21
On a miserable day to play and watch (as well as try to chronicle) a football game, the Bears and the Bulldogs had a hard fought game, which the visitors won with the last score. The rain, snow and wind made consistent execution difficult, but both teams evidenced good traction on Triplett Field at Bordley Stadium. In a battle between the two running backs, while Bullis’ Kevin Jones won the game, Myles Allen, who would have preferred the W, outrushed his opponent (Myles 170 yards on 23 carries and 3 TDs vs. Kevin with 152 yards on 42 carries and 2 TDs [NOTE: Jones had averaged more than 10 yards per carry and one TD every 6 touches] ).
The first half was a battle of the defenses with both teams holding the ball for repeated series without scores (Bullis, 5 drives and two scores [one by the air]; Landon possessed the ball 4 times, one resulting in a TD).

The nasty weather did not seem to relent in the second half and the boys appeared to increase their energy in the last 24 minutes. Landon’s second drive was 6 plays for 54 yards ending with an Allen 4 yard run into the end zone.

While the defense had many exceptional plays in these periods [fumble recovery by Taylor Greene, a holding penalty drawn by him, too; TFLS by Andrew Mitchell, Robby Dunigan, Philip Pena [2] and Taylor Greene], the remainder of the game heavily emphasized the offense.
Bullis took the ball with 9:35 remaining in the 4th Q and drove 60 yards to score on a Kylor Bellistri eight yard TD (missed 2 pt PAT).

The Bears fought back with a 65 yard, 4 play drive, utilizing a Charlie Schnider to Peter Laco pass, to move the Bullis LBs out of the box. The benefit of that aerial alternative was a 33 yard run over, around and through the entire Bullis D by Myles Allen. A successful 2 point PAT made it
LANDON 21 BULLIS 20 with 3:55 left in the game.
The Bulldogs did not relent and put together an 11 play, 85 yard drive finishing with a Jones TD from the 2 yard line. Another 2 pt PAT failed to make it
BULLIS 26 LANDON 21 with 0:45 left.
The Bears almost pulled off some last second magic, but after a couple of receptions, the last pass slipped out of the grasp of one of the home team’s receivers.
