Now that the Bears are getting out onto the fields, courses and courts, reports from within the White Rocks are here.

  • Baseball, golf, tennis and track win their openers.

  • Lax  splits with SSSA

  • Randy Bednar, Jr. and Dane Camphausen are hitting well. Jake Davidson has a good trip to the mound.

  • Morgan Egloff  and Evan Katz end their stellar collegiate golf careers.

  • Alex Norwinski and the Liberty Flames lost in the National Semi-Finals

Inside the White Rocks

  • Baseball—beat EHS and SSSA 11-7 (thanks Ms. Beckner)

  • Golfbeat SSSA  204 – 230.

  • Lacrosse—looked impressive in Friday 18-13 win over SSSA and looked flat in Saturday rematch 9-10 loss.

  • Outdoor Track—did well at EHS and is hosting SSSA 4/24.

  • Tennis— beat EHS 6-1 and SSSA 5-2.

College Baseball Update

Randy Bednar (L’17), University of Maryland. 13-13

Randy, a senior and 4-year letterman at Maryland, is hitting .308 with 15 RBI in 23 games this year, continuing an outstanding college career.  He was drafted in the 27th round by the Atlanta Braves in 2017 and we hope to see him on the draft board this year!

Dane Camphausen (L’19), the College of Wooster. 14-5

Dane is Wooster’s starting first basemen as sophomore and is having an excellent year.  The big Fighting Scot is hitting .352 with 4 home runs and 18 RBI in 17 games.

Jake Davidson (L’19), Kenyon College 3-5.

Jake is a sophomore relief pitcher for Kenyon.  In his most recent appearance, he closed out the Lords’ game against Allegheny College on Thursday with one inning pitched, two strikeouts and no runs allowed.  Jake is playing for the D.C. Grays this summer in the Cal Ripken League in and around D.C.

Dane and Jake play against each other in the same college league.  Dane’s Dad, Kevin, took this photo of the two former Bear teammates from a recent double-header won by Wooster.

  • Basketball

Professional Basketball Darion Atkins (L 11)  Lokman Hekim Fethiye Belediyespor of the Turkish BSL (8-21).

GOLF

·       Morgan Egloff L15, Rollins College- Sunshine State Conference Championship the Tars finished seventh position and Morgan carded  76 on the final day, earning a tie for 26th with an overall mark of 227.

Morgan completes his career as a Tar and will explore a   career path.

·       Evan Katz L17 Duke— ACC Championships started 4/23 and was rained out on Saturday- will be completed 4/25. Senior Evan Katz shot a 77 on Friday morning.

This is Morgan’s 4th year at Duke,

HOCKEY

NHL Hockey 

  • Sam Anas L11 St. Louis Blues taxi squad, played in 13 games for Utica Comets with 2 goals and 14 assists.

College Hockey 

  • Alex Norwinski L’15 Liberty University  ACHA Div. 1 #3 Flames (8-4, 6-3 ACHA) beat  Maryville University twice  but lost to in Minot State the ACHA DI National Semi Finals.

Football

  • Terrance Bridgers, Delaware State 2-3 played in loss to South Carolina State 1 solo

  • Chazz Harley, Elon, 1-5 played in 3 games; last game postponed.

Soccer

  • Allan Kupka, Denison University (0-2 scrimmages) no stats

  • Drew Parker, Kenyon College ???

  • Burke McLaughlin, Denison University (0-2 scrimmages) no stats
